Given that it's a great community that we have here, and it is in my opinion we don't really have any regional contacts for advice regarding purchases/ inspection and meeting. Coming from many car club cultures where it does have a dedicated regional scope for new members to attend/ speak about possible Ducati ownership it falls short of this kind of thing. I am not saying that we need to begin to ask forum members to give up their time to arrange club meets and such forth in their areas because I know this does not work given the constraints of peoples life priorities that exist now. But I have had a lot of inquiries of new bikers wanting to know about Ducati ownership, and yes there is plenty on the web but people still want to talk to owners who have owned or own a ducati . This year alone I have steered 4 people into Ducati bikes, which is great for the brand. Is there enough people in any other regions willing to give their time/expertise to do this as it is something that the current Forum does not have? Give me your thoughts please.
Here’s a suggestion (I agree with you by the way). Lead by example and start the Surrey group with you as the regional rep.. when others see it’s cool they will want to do it locally too.
Too "clubby" for my liking to be honest. I started and continue to use this and other forums as a means to gain and also give where I can information about the bikes. I do like to meet other owners but on a casual and informal way which clubs cannot do. I think the balance on here is pretty good overall and there is something for everyone as it is especially with a little self help from time to time. Not wishing to put your idea down but just don't think it's what the forum is about.
Fair comment and I guess that is why it works as well as it does, I agree that some clubs are just too clicky even for my liking.
I saw a chocolate programme last night on channel 5, they made a bar out of whiskey chocolate and bacon, mmmm
Went to this place a couple of weeks ago. www.highlandchocolatier.com Very expensive but highly tempting.
Pete, doesn’t that exist already with DOCGB? ps. I’ll do the West Cork branch pps. Oops. I’m the only member. Ah well, be easy enough to organise meets then
@El Toro said he was thinking of doing a West Yorkshire DOCGB branch probably due to his looming retirement - it will be like dads army and last of the summer wine all rolled into one
We need to form a claret wine oath, a coat of legs emblem & the obligitory kissing a pigs dead head. This will necessitate a bacon occultist dance move. I will take the space farce division, you can call me flashly-boredom. *post contains a bit of fun
I always saw @creamrevenge as pike @chizel as compo and @bettes as Private Godfrey I've been christened Private Walker remember
All sounds like a club/forum I used to enjoy. Still got some very good friends as result. Problems can arise fast though with ‘clicks, dick heads and egos’. My observations would be keep it casual, no ride or area leaders. Agree a meet place, great, but no figure head. Too many arseholes in the world and attention seekers who can’t deal with ‘variety’ or better/safer riders. It can all get out of hand.
I would hate to meet other people like me. I am already a member of Geneva motorcycle club and that has quite enough of us for my liking!
