It does not offend me personally, but most Scottish people I know find it offensive. So if you want to offend most Scottish people who casually look in on the forum and make yourself look bad, then keep going. Personally, I think it’s a bad idea to make the forum look bad. You are deterring Scottish people from joining or contributing. They are not mind readers to your good intention. I don’t mind you looking bad because I do not believe that you or several others have good intentions when you use the phrase since it’s often attached to a criticism of someone like Nicola Sturgeon, Alex Salmond or the idea of Scottish independence or that our oil wealth has been squandered or mocking Scotland’s success with renewables- those sorts of things. I can’t ever recall a post along the lines of “The Scottish have done a great job of......:.” It’s usually “.......that dour Scotchman Murray is back on the TV ......”
