1199 Deposit Down On A Gen 2 1199r But

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Richard Griffin, Jul 13, 2019.

  1. Hello all,

A relative newbie but after watching these forums and observing some good advice i've decided to put my money into a Gen 2 1199R, have not been to see the bike in the flesh yet but with an approved Ducati dealer, deposit down but they have sent a video of the bike and it has a pillion seat and rear foot pegs!! I've spoken with them and it will be back to standard but truth be told its put me off, any other 1199R owners come across this? Does much need changing to get things as they should be and do I need to be weary of anything?

It has 250 miles on the clock so in my mind should be as new condition.

I'm almost tempted to take deposit back and seek another one.

Going to see it on Tuesday.

    Any advice welcome.

  2. pillion pegs and seat are standard. they just bolt on, or bolt off. relax and enjoy

  3. Thanks mate - Appreciate the steer.........

Never seen or heard of rear footpegs on a 1199R (any R in fact).

  4. they probably come out the crate like that. I would take it as a good sign it hasnt been messed with at all.

  9. This is a spanner in the works, gonna sit right here and see how this develops lol

  12. I think the pillion pegs are standard and when dealers have sold the R they’ve taken them off before delivery as they know an R will never carry a pillion.

  13. Well, it looks pukka Richard, but I've never, ever seen that before and I never got a rear seat or pegs with mine. As @bradders say, things like the 1098R don't have lugs on the rear subframe to fit pegs to, so you can't take passengers.

Looking at this, it may be possible. If you want me to take the rear seat cover from my R to have a look, I can do that for you.

  17. Haven't been in the garage to look at mine, but I took some pics when I fitted my tail tidy. It does indeed look like the seat unit on the Panigale R has some upper side panels that will remove to enable fitting of a seat.

That's the most surprising thing I've found out all week. :)
