Porsche 911 Rip

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by HyperMac, Aug 5, 2019.

  1. I know that car makers cannot stand still. They need to keep feeding the desire for new models and innovative technology and keep up with emission and safety standards etc etc. But yesterday I saw the 992 version of the 911, and I have to say that it looked huge. So far removed from what the 911 was intended to be. Almost a three quarter sized Panamera in my eyes.
It is also not a stand out model any more as it always used to be. Eye catching for all the wrong reasons. Guess I just felt a bit nostalgic and sad that the real interesting days of car manufacturing have now gone.
Apologies to any 911 owners of which this post concerns ( eye of beholder and all )

An example of the old cutting edge design , albeit a turbo ( IMO ) ......

  5. Yep, there’s about 400kg difference between those 2 models. Which says it all really.
Still love the GT stuff though

When McQueen's Slate Gray 1970 Porsche 911S crossed the block at last Friday's RM Auction in Monterey, the hammer fell at a price of $1.375 million, setting a new record for the price of a Porsche 911 sold at auction.23 Aug 2011
