Odd one.....i want a spare set of wheel spacers for the front wheel of my z1000 - its got Marchesini wheels on it. Im thinking this is going to be akin to gettting akra parts (non existent) anyone else ordered spacers before - or any wheel spares before from Marchesini? Im picking akrapovic out as the last time my mate tried to get some spares for his pipe the UK sales bloke essentially said "no hope mate"..... On the flip side ive ordered spares for my arrow system and everything is available from stock and is all individually part numbered. Brilliant.
No chance of taking the originals off and getting a pair machined up? This is normally a lot cheaper and quicker. Unless they’re special and difficult to copy...
I'm guessing they're basically small ali tubes? If so just get some made probably quicker and cheaper.
Theyre not amazingly special but id like to get some like for like replacements the reason is i dont thing they actually fit quite correctly....you really have to force the forks apart to get them in (id say a good 3 to 4mm) id like to hack the set around that ive got and then have a spare set of good ones for reference....it doesnt help too much as ive got brembo HPK's on the front which i think have a slightly different offset...
Each side is slightly different...one side is slightly thicker than the other...i dont think i can simply "draw up a set to have made" - i think im gonn have to play around with distances to get them to (slide straight into the forks) and at the same time get the calipers to sit right. As i say, its fine at the moment and the wheel spins ok...no problems there...its just that the HPK's dont sit straight (so the pistons on one side of the caliper are out more than the other side) A bit anal i know but id like it all to sit straight...
I mean, i might be able to simply order some...im just assuming the worst (a la akra) - going back to my mates dilemma ( he was looking for a section of exhaust) and when pressed, akrapovic couldnt give a fuck...they sold the pipe and werent interested thereafter...totally opposite to arrow...who were brilliant as i was expecting the same problems and it couldnt have been easier...
Looks like you have two of these attached https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/173868326534
Aftermarket. Yeah - have to pull them apart. Disks arent hpk...the calipers are...on stock discs. "should" be correct - but i have to pull the forks apart and thats the way they are but, in all fairness to them...they probably didnt allow for a 15 year old set of hpk's on there!
What I meant was, if you put those two together, with a silver washer between them, it looks like your picture. I assume the picture you posted was a one piece spacer?
S'ok - not expecting answers as such....just wondered if anyone had ordered from Marchesini themselves....ill post back on here with the results....Crescent Suzuki is one of the two suppliers in the uk so ill be calling them tomorrow...
Yeah - it was but, if ive gotta pull the forks apart to get them in getting 2 spacers in there is gonna be hard work - im saying that in the politest way!! - he did just come back to me and said they wouldnt fit (or - he couldnt guarantee it) - having said that if i "dont" have to pull them apart then fitting would be a whole lot easier..!
Is it normal for aftermarket to have different spacers? Can’t say over experienced that: they have always been standard
