Well hello, obviously i'm new here, but not to Ducatis. I've got a big bored 996 SPS full of corse parts but i'm now stuck just at the end of my latest mod. I'm fitting some 60mm throttle bodies and was wondering if anyone else has? The fit into the standard inlet manifolds to a point, but these are tapered as they head towards the head, where the standard 50mm throttle bodies have a step which mates to corresponding half in the inlet rubber. If you've done it you'll know what i mean. I'm really over budget so cant just throw on 748 r inlets as suggested by a mate only to find another problem. Please any help would be appreciated before i just get the stanley out and butcher the original inlets and possibly ruin things totally. Thanks guys and gals, i've got a near factory bike now so if anyone needs advice on track mods i'm willing to help. Paul
Ahhh. Thanks. Anyway i can contact him. Or do i just hope he sees my question? My misses is pregnant so need to get the bike finished before she drops but have to be wise with the money now. Thanks
Look for Desmophil. Here is one of his adverts. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f20/fs-996rs-998rs-wheels-rad-system-etc-4753/
Did you mean "My wife is pregnant with our child and I would dearly like to complete the bike before she gives birth so I can give all my attention to our new child"
No, i meant. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. What the hell am i gonna do now i've got a baby i cant just leave in the garage and play with when i can afford it! I'm not ready for it yet, i'm only 79. LOL
Ahhh. They look about the job, i had my sister measure the 60mm bodies today and said the outside diameter at the manifold end is 58mm with the inner of the recess 56mm. Which is the same as the 50mms i took off. I did see a set on ebay measuring the 62mm which looks like what you're showing but figured its too big. May be wrong until i measure my inlet rubbers to see the clearance. They look 748 r to me but i know these are shorter than usual inlets, which is where my next problem would arrive. I'm in such a mess with it. I do however have 996 RS and 748 R inlet rocker covers so i know i'd get the clearance they need if they were right.
Without being too precise for obvious reasons which part of the UK are you in? (You must never leave a baby in the garage whether you can afford to play with it or not)
Not too far, I'll need to find the other one first (It's buried in the garage somewhere) and you can try them to check fit and we'll go from there. Might take a couple of days to find.
OH MY GOD what a super star you'd be. If they fit and are for sale you'd be a life saver cos i'm so stressed over it now. Even if you need them at least i'd know if they're what i need or not. I've got a bunch of nice parts for sale on here too if we need to do a deal. Just so you know, they're for a 1037 SPS with a full corse bottom end and i do mean every internal rotating mass but on bog standard heads. Currently i've seen over 143BHP at the wheel on the dyno and the top is getting done, well... now. Just need to get the 60mms fitted before it goes for the head work. It owes me every single hours overtime and missed holiday for about 8 years. Thanks again.
No worries, I'll find the other one and get in contact. I'm away from Thurs through to Sunday but other than that should be able to sort fairly quick.
PM? If you mean email it's if you mean something else, i'm a bit lost. I flippin hate computers.
Ah well that was my final solution, either cut back the rubber, or machine the bodies. I've got some tapered inlets on the way to try thanks to another member. I've got my fingers crossed. And toes.
Now that is one outstanding nose picking nail!
View attachment 13385 To try and make it clearer is this what you're looking for? I was told they came off 748R.
