So I need some advice, and thought there are a few of you on here that would be able to offer me some advice on this. My wife placed a deposit on a 3 year old car last weekend, her dream car, she has wanted for a while. A Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 4.2 V8. The car is awesome and we are due to pick it up next weekend. Today we were asked to sign the attached document about ensuring we had updates done as needed. And porsche released this 2 days ago... https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/company/porsche-diesel-cayenne-v6-3-statement-14134.html stating the car is due a recall. Previous forum where people have had Porsche updates done has made the car worse in fueling etc. We have had Porsche's for 15 years and are pretty loyal to the brand and quality of cars, but should be cautious and ask for a refund of our deposit. Or think well, we got it on PCP over 4 years so can just give it back and the responsiblity it there's so we are buying it outright so covering the risk. What do you think? Could we demand our deposit back based on this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Looked at the link (refuse to download anything off forums) and cant see why that would fetch your during decsion?
Sorry Bradders do you mean it shouldn’t affect our decision? I took screenshots of it. Maybe just being hesitant as don’t want the car being recalled fullstop and we have no comeback
Wow!! I assume that is meant to be in English!! Lol Looks like its the emissions issue, ie a by product of vag being hammered for cheating the tests. If it’s just that, I wouldn’t worry tbh. If, however, is]still a fault that can cause the egr to fail, I’d be asking what they means to you, if it happened what would they do. My gut says it’s simply saying ‘don’t believe the stats in the catalogue - we lied’ Maybe @finm or @cookster may have a view
The egr valve fails for fun on diesel Porsche’s. Cayennes and Macans panameras the lot. It because the egr coolers are shit and end up cooling the waste so much that it clogs the swirl pot flaps in the inlets. Big job to do. Done loads and the best way round it is to have the egr valve, adblue scr device written out in a remap. Usually have the speed limiters removes as well to. Never another problem after that
Thats great, so either way if we get it remapped it would improve it anyway? Where do you suggest to go for a remap etc? Are reccomendations. This is all new to me.
There is a company called black code that do a real good job on Porsche Diesel engine management systems with no smoking problems or overfueling like some companies leave you with. Benefit as well is that whoever your local guy is will probably be blue to come to you to do the job. Look up black code remap or companies like super chip or unichip. 100% the way to go and will make the car drive better with better mpg. They also have some programs for the dsg boxes which transforms the gear change.
no experience with EGR's on that engine though its a common issue with the smaller VAG engines. I think if there is any evidence of tampering with the EGR, it results in an MOT failure but how they would know from the test procedure that it had been remapped is beyond me. i'v not tested in about 10 years.
No way of knowing whilst testing at all as the diesel mot emissions test is only opacity not a calculated amount. I’ve tested loads with remaps and you’d never know. Dpf tampering is now an mot fail so I just tell anybody doing it to cut it where I can’t see it lol
