Just tried to fit some new Brembo SC pads to my 749R. Couldn’t get them in as they are too thick to fit in the calipers, even with the brake pistons completely flush with the caliper faces. I am aware that the pads for BMW’s are different to those for 749/999 radial calipers - I once bought some Bendix ones for a BM by accident at a trackday and they were really tight on my 749. Does anybody know if the ones below are the correct fit for 749 ? Never had a problem with Bendix or Performance Friction ones not fitting.
Hey @Sev , that’s great info, thanks! I think the thicker pads don’t fit because I have HPK discs on my track bike which I believe are a bit thicker than standard road discs. Looks like I need to get a set of the other ones. Thick ones can go on the road 749R hopefully.
For the hassle of milling 1mm off the back of the pads ,assuming you have a lathe ,i think it easier to buy another set
I am buying another set, most likely Performance Friction 95 compound as I know they fit and they also perform very well. BTW, a lathe would not be an appropriate machine to reduce the thickness of a flat component. One would use a milling machine for that.
I meant grind the frction material away not the steel backing plate! a coarse bit of sandpaper would do it
Ordered some 07BB05SC from AR Racing last week. They just contacted me to say that Brembo have discontinued these pads! Blast!
