Hi all , does anybody know if my upmap key will work on a different bike or are they locked to a specific Ecu once used ? I was going to sell mine but don’t know if it’s reusable ? Thanks
Once up loaded, it's tied into your bikes VIN. It needs to reversed at your dealer before it can be used again on another bike.
So is it any use really to anyone if I sold it on ? Or would they have to pay as much getting it reversed as if they’d bought a new one ?
By reversed Nelly means the modded map needs to be downloaded onto the Upmap device thus restoring the bike to stock.
Sorry for all the questions , so if somebody buys the akra/termi slip ons , would my upmap key open the race map on their bike ?
Like Chris said... If you want to sell the slip ons and give the buyer a usable UPMAP key, then the bike needs to go back into a dealer and have the stock map loaded back into the bike. This will then leave the performance map on the UPMAP and allow it to be used again. If you don't do this, then your bike will remain with the tuned map on and the UPMAP key is nothing more than a paperweight.
ah right , no I have sold my bike with the Akras on but I still have the upmap key. I was going to sell the key thinking that somebody could use it to put the race remap in their bike ( to save buying a new upmap key ) ?
.....or send it to me! .... I have underbelly Akras on my 959, bought already on bike, second hand from a dealer who gave me the original exhausts but no upmap key(s). It would be quite nice to be able to put the original exhausts back on now and again for uk track days (too loud for anything except Donny or Spain/portugal at the mo) and get it temporarily "downmapped" back to standard, although I hate to think what dealers charge to remap it. Old thread I know, but useful to read this, ta Nelly/Chris. Does anyone know if the process "swops" the maps, so the upmap key uploads the race map and then stores the standard map on key for future restoration? Or does the ECU always retain a background copy of the factory map and defaults back, or do you get given a second "downmap" key when you buy the Akas? Also wondering if restoring original map is necessary if putting shotguns back on, might be a bit rich and backfirey, but no harm done?
