Pfft! Love the statement about how it can do in 200 secs what current supercomputers would need 10,000 yrs for! The answer is 42. But seriously, I would love to know what the task is that would take current supercomputers 10,000 yrs?
Having worked for a US company for the last 13 years, I reckon Skynet is most likely to arise from a future IoT/quantum computing platform where the board of directors put so much pressure on middle management that some Millennial future manager is going to push it to fruition in order to enhance their career, probably for a military application, and the senior leadership team will go along with it because they're too stupid to realise it's the Singularity that kicks it all off.
Working in cyber for the last couple of years, the overriding spectre in the background is quantum computing. The hashing algorithm for old standards have been broken but took years: with this stuff, the industry threat is it could break next gen ( and several after) in minutes or hours. No system could be safe.. Makes you wonder. We regulate testing of many things but not this stuff
I remember that chap who dedicated about 30 years of his life to manually deciphering the doomsday book, then some spotty teenager did it in 20 seconds with a zx81 whilst his mum cooked tea!
Getting a bit frightened of my phone at the moment, Huawei phone, twice while left on the table unused for an hour or so, ti just answered a question on TV. What on earth is going on.
You have the voice assistant turned on. Change the settings. It’s not sinister, and if it bothers you it can be switched off.
If the voice assistant activates even once - it can turn itself off and on at will. It will whisper to you in the night, poisoning your mind and haunting your dreams. Good luck!
