  2. I might as well stick mine here as well, so you can see what a clean one looks like.......

About a year before I sold it, I think.....

  3. Did you change the paint scheme or did it vary? Yours has a different tail piece too. Yours are the orignal wheels though?

  4. Yes they do, mines currently being repaired.
Nearly always nearside towards the back of the tank.
    Fingers crossed for you.

  6. Good excuse to share:

Still own this one, since around 2009, bought with ~7K on clock now at ~24K. It is loved and maintained regardless, and yet at the same time trashed within an inch of it's life. Will probably never sell. Though it does have competition from the 999 bought last year..though I swear I can ride this one faster in the mountains.

Best memory: getting knee down on Corsica, the one and only time I've ever ridden at ten tenths on the road.

    Happy days!

  7. A beauty!

  8. Oh and to answer the original question. Baines sorted is the way to go. Stage 2 dynojet kit, k&n filter, holes in airbox lid, upgraded coils and Termis. Then fettle everything till perfect, then fettle again(!). Dial in the suspension for you (fit a 10mm longer rear shock from the ssie model). Adjust the ergos till perfect for your size. Dump tail for mono seat. After that I would mod the reg/rectify to allow for super lightweight battery...but don't ask everyone if they think it is a good idea!
    Cheers

I’ll look into this once I have it back from the dealers, tweaking it what I’m after doing as I’d like to keep it as original as possible
Can I ask what year yours is?

  12. 1997, was a normal 900ss when I got it. The original owner before me was an engineer by trade...and during the long UK winters he would strip the bike completely...EVERY YEAR!! It was like new when I got it...

  13. Same year as mine, thought the fairing/front mudguard combo looked familiar.
So yours is like ‘look what you could have’ then. :)

  15. Took delivery of my latest 900ss this afternoon but was interupted by a blockage of sewage in one of my pits, so have been shoveling shit all afternoon. Any body know how to dispose of 6 storage boxes of shit ?

I am now browsing through the paperwork and low and behold she has been breathed on by George Baines back in 1994.
