  3. If you do decide to go Superlight look..just buy a ready painted rear tail, they do come up from time to time on the bay. i went with pattern ricambi weiss. And by the time I had sanded, painted, added fixings, added seat, added decals I had spent the same as a one off the bay. (And I had lost a couple of days of dicking around with it).

  5. There we go! Still one of my favourites.

  6. Standard / OEM dual seat and pillion cowl. I designed and did the paint job. OEM wheels.

  7. It also looked like this....about two years before I did the paint job.

  8. I've had a few bikes with different mods and it can be a right money pit........still is.
Standard bike is roughly 73Bhp & 57lb of torque.
    Bolt on tuning:
With slip ons, air filter and jet kit this ups it too 76Bhp and 60lb of torque.
FCR's offer better response and a few horses.
A lighter flywheel is a good mod.
After that it's engine work - Drop in 92mm hi-comp pistons can take a bike to 82-85Bhp and 65lb of torque.
    Bike does motor after that.
Wouldn't go any further than that as it really is big £££££££ for little return.

    Good luck with the bike.

    Pablo

  9. ^ you're being modest Paul - have you got some pics handy? did you end up happy with the c/f airbox you designed and made?

  10. Alright Chris. Yep stuck with the airbox and it's been fine.
IMG_1669.JPG Old picture and still modding, just a lot slower progression since getting the track bug. Bike has a set of black HEL calipers fitted.

  12. If you want to stay with the air cooled engine I’d seriously look at a 1000ss before spending a fortune on the older bike. Maybe not as pretty but you can buy them for not a lot of money and a standard 1000 will put out more power than a modified 900. Never had mine on the dyno but it feels so much quicker than my 900 and they come with the lovely swing arm, Ohlins and five spoke wheels as standard.

  13. Good points raised Wassy, but the top half is damned ugly.

  14. You can’t see it when you’re riding it :)

  15. @dukesox has one for sale, similar but different.
    My god that’s clean!
Love the senna and red wheels, reminds me of my earlier monster S4.

  16. Bit of corrosion at the front of the engine but overall it’s a clean bike. Best mod pound for pound is to lower the gearing.
I think changing the wheels on the earlier bikes is a good thing to do as the standard ones are quite heavy. ST4s seems to be a popular choice.

  17. It will be 20% more powerful at least. A standard 1000 SD seems to make 90 ish and wil some work 100 plus. That SS you have, with a few quid and not worrying as much about looks, could be under 150 kg dry too...

  18. The original fairing with the sound deadening foam weighed a lot so I’ve saved a bit there. Seat until is also heavy so a bit can be saved but not many options seat wise for a road bike. This one is fitted with an RS125 seat which suits the lines of the bike but no provision for lights etc.
