New Zealand White Island

  1. Don't ride motorbikes :worried:

  2. Me and a friend climbed Mount Ruapehu a year after it erupted in ‘96.
It was an amazing experience to see close hand the size of the damaged caused to the mountain side.
Looking into the live crater itself and remembering the noise, feeling the heat is something I’ll never forget.
I can fully understand the attraction.

  3. Wow.... I want to claim a mountain and an island in the Pacific.
Didn't think we were allowed to do that anymore, unless you had a nuclear arsenal.

  4. Oh Yeah soz about that, I was rushing out when I should have taken the time to check my spelling, I’ve since corrected my error.
Good on you for pointing it out though,
and adding a little bit of humour to an otherwise serious subject.

  5. Shit luck all round really, plus we have pockets of hundreds of locals and tourists trapped all over the middle of the South Island due to massive flooding and roads blocked by huge slips etc, bridges washed out or still under water, so not a good time to be travelling in NZ. She's a wild old place is NZ.

  6. Horrible tragedy for all concerned. Unfortunately nature is not a theme park and will show its true colours at any time.

  7. They have begun a criminal investigation. Sounds like a waste of time, money and resources to me...

  8. Privately owned, so I assume some commercial interest in keeping people visiting even during a time of increased risk?
