If you live in Wiltshire anyway Just 807 speeders were caught by police driving too fast in 2018-19 in Wiltshire compared to more than 73,000 in Hampshire. mainly due to all the Wiltshire cameras being turned off, policing priorities and road conditions Wiltshire: 76% of drivers given a fine 15% sent on a speed awareness course. 7% resulted in court action 1% of offences cancelled Hampshire: 30% of drivers given a fine 58% were sent on a speed awareness course 6% ended up in court 6% of offences were cancelled.
I was driving down the M1 recently at 0230 in the morning heading to East Midlands Airport. I suddenly got the dreaded double flash... oops... quick look at the speedo... 112mph... uh oh... Never heard another thing about it! Get in! #pedaltothemetal#
Got stopped on A36 between Salisbury and Warminster , had a good look at the bike and told me I was 'pressing on a bit ' for a Harley and to dial it back a tad, then went on their way with a smile.
"Pressing on a bit for a Harley" was probably way under the limit, I expect they were just concerned for you.
Only one road fatality in Oslo for the whole of 2019 ! Looks like some folk are doing the right thing . https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ic-road-deaths-accidents-norway-a9269441.html I've never been , so for all I know , the entire city might be closed to motor vehicles ..... I wonder how London compares ? I was a dispatch rider back in my student days ..... never again ! UK still rates as one of the safest countries in Europe for driving
I remember there were a few towns, in recent years, which trialed the idea of removing traffic signs, traffic lights and all that stuff from the town centres. Early reports had been of reduced road accidents/collisions but then I never heard any more of it.
I think I'm the only person in my family without ever getting points, after selling my C63 last summer and becoming a man with a van I've turned into a right speed limit abiding preechy bastard that just says "If you wanna go fast, do it on a racetrack".
New years eve saw 3 killed in the village next to us and one still critical in hospital. .... head on with lorry. The girl that died (20) was my friends daughters best mate. She had just had just qualified as cabin crew and thought she had it made... such a happy girl.
Actually horrendous isn’t it. To be fair were one of the safest places in the world for driving, I went to Sierra Leone with work and saw people sat on their mates bonnet doing in excess of 80 mph down a main road and it was considered “good crack”. Eastern Europe is bad for it as well, anyone that’s done touring there knows the beautiful bendy roads are littered with memorial plaques.
12, 25 if you sit at 70 with no air con on, did 40k miles in mine best car I’ve ever had, shit on the M3. If I ever had the capital for a Black Series or my rental flat started to wind me up even more than it does now and I considered selling it, I’d definitely consider one.
The Scandis are brutal for speeding offences and some of the fines can be eye watering. The Norwegians are particularly vicious. http://www.speedingeurope.com/norway/ From personal experience they also seem quite happy to spend a lot of money on camera infrastructure so that some roads are monitored every mile or two. This destroys the enjoyment potential of some roads completely. As far as the biking fraternity is concerned, this pushes lots more people to the track, where its quite common to see trailies and choppers running around in the slower groups every weekend. Road riding becomes totally mundane with folk barely road riding for pleasure at all, and bikes just being "transport". I pretty much gave up on road riding in Sweden after a couple of years there, instead spending 20-30 days a year on the track during the short riding season.
I first saw that type of thinking at a very busy intersection in Tokyo ..... .... multiple pedestrian crossings radiating from a central hub . Drivers didn't know what the hell to do , so they slowed to a crawl . I've noticed a similar effect here , when you get two ( or more ) mini-roundabouts linked together . All good IMO I did say driving .... .... standing still is a separate issue ... You don't hear of many people getting stabbed while driving ....
Bus drivers and taxi cabbies probably get the worst of it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-49954140 PS. I won't be standing still still if someone tries to stab me - I'll be running off as fast as I can!
Stabbing is not like the movies.... People think they are just in a fist fight/ wrestle..... unaware of being stabbed until later..... as they bleed out. Sadly one of the experiences of living in the smoke (witness, not participants). On each occasion the "victim" never saw or felt the knife.
The Mrs 300SLK was much the same, she used to nick my 123d most of the time unless the sun was out She actually preferred the BM to drive so we chopped them both in and bought a 4 series when we went down to one car and one van.
If you also compare KSI stats, Wiltshire is far lower too. Shows speed cameras don’t work In reducing deaths or surely wilts would be a death race county..
People used to exclaim shock at the numbers but its a 6.2L V8, I thought the mileage was bloody good. Last of the proper V8s, some like to compare that new Mustang to it but that's a cheap bag of yanky shit. (no offence to any Americans on here, just saying your cars are shit nothing else)
