  3. So when recovery is finished after a motorcycle accident we should do some community service ?

  4. at the risk of getting caught between the scissors, I agree with skitz - is that the right title for the thread Carl?? maybe you have more details than me but maybe he actually does have problems with his mental health - do we wish him dead? - I don't. Have we ever done anything as stupid? - I certainly have (maybe I shouldn't have been helped either).
It's easy to hate things isn't it..

  6. I wanted to walk along the Birling Gap section today, but just so windy it was a no,no in my book, and besides you would all miss me.;)

  7. Its all to do with circumstance, reasonable behavior and the danger we put other people in who come to save us.

Flying helicopters in bad weather over the sea might cost the rescue lads their lives. It might also mean there are no helicopters to rescue a ship of sailors in difficulty. Riding our sports bikes or climbing a mountain in a snow storm is similar imo. I don't see it as a punishment per se, but giving back to the comunity that took risks when we could have been a little more sensible? A way of saying thankyou.

  8. Miss who :eyes:

  9. I understand peoples annoyance at this but
So you never drive over the speed limit and enjoy your bike ? He didn't call the coast guard and they didn't rescue him !

  10. i'v had this convo with a physiotherapist/mountaineer before. she hates bikes. but I had to remind her more folks go missing and often end up dead in the hills over a year than bikers end up hurt or worse.
that shut her geggy for a while.

  11. Don't see why not if it was self-inflicted through stupidity.

  12. lil miss trouble maker...x

  13. Here if that's the case insurance pays the emergency fees but its hard to prove ultimately who's to blame ?

  14. For me there is a big difference between having an accident, and surfing in a massive storm. I don't know if the RNLI rescued him, according to the BBC, say they found him six miles away on a beach.

  15. So he was found on a beach aka dry land ? So if your accident is over the speed limit you were taking undue risks ?

  16. OK you think surfing in storms is the same as riding a bike in normal conditions a mile or two over the speed limit. I don't. If i did hurt myself riding a few miles over the speed limit, its really unlikely (though not impossible) that I would cause my comunity to risk their lives, to save me. Its a question of degree.

Comunity is a good thing, and giving something back should be praised, not considered a punishment. Maybe thats just me.

  17. Some balls on him to go catch a massive wave.
Glad he's safe,. Keep pushing limits. Love it.

  18. You know what takes big brass ones?

Getting up in a helicopter or other light aircraft when Hillary Clinton knows you exist.

    That takes mind-boggling bravery.

  19. Sorry buddy that's were we probably diverge I love excitement I ride my bike fast I windsurf in mental conditions I wakeboard and snowboard as much as I can and I bend the rules as much as I can , if the emergency services refused to head out to this guy I'd fully understand but knowing the attitude to there jobs they don't think like that !!! This planet is becoming so sanitized its scary sure we won't be allowed to drive the future and it will be zero risk brigade that brings it in !

  20. I've had a few adventures on the water myself. Sailing solo around the world was one.

Its not about refusing to go out to save, its about being reasonable, and giving back.

    We are all different.
