used to know guys from south coast hells angels and "the end" motorcycle club, most where ok, but you would never mess with them, mess with one, you mess with them all, best just to leave town, but i got on ok with them, liked there pubs for the rock music and bike talk, just got to respect their "lifestyle choice" really found this picture on the net, was painted on the side of the house round the corner from where i worked
Can anyone explaine "Son's of anarchy" to me. I start watching it and have no idea what is going on. Are they the good guy's or the bad guy's? I struggle with Corrie as well so perhaps it's just me. Regards Steve
I've spent some time with bike gangs, and they ain't half as dangerous as they're made out to be, not in the UK anyway. There is some heavy duty drug use going on, and there's always a bit of rivalry between members and between gangs, but it rarely amounts to anything. Mind you, if you're wandering around with an ebay patch on your back you probably deserve a kicking anyway...
If you have decided on a life of crime, theft, fraud, violent assaults and drug dealing, surely you would not advertise the fact. Why would you go around wearing a conspicuous uniform proclaiming your criminality? Criminals usually try to keep it a secret. So the whole Hells Angels/Sons of Anarchy concept seems to be fundamentally flawed. Or have I misunderstood the whole thing?
You've misunderstood the whole thing. It's the equivalent in the animal world to being red, or having some conspicuous weaponry that tells other animals: "don't mess with me, it's not worth it". It's all about being well hard and wanting everyone to know it. I always find it sad that people want all their interactions with others based on the understanding of how much harm you could do them, as if violence is the bedrock on which you found your life. But then it takes all sorts. Deathsheads, skulls, bones, all that death imagery has never appealed to me one tiny bit. The upside is that I can quickly see who I don't want to bother talking to.
As I understand it most of these MC patch clubs were originally set-up by people de-mobbed from the military, who found it hard to integrate back into civilian life. Little wonder that violence, honour, chain of command etc are central to the sub-culture.
Certainly in this country that's precisely what it is. Most of the 'gang' members I've met have been gainfully employed, quite often married with kids, and the only departure from a perfectly normal disposition being dodgy beards, tattoos and a taste for medicine. There were one or two nutters of course. There was a marker put out on me (gosh, this sounds so exciting doesn't it!) because I swapped teams after meeting a woman from another chapter. The reality was I still went for a pint with the other mob and no-one even got a bit miffed, but the word was still out they were going to kill me. My nan used to scare me more. But then I wasn't made of the right stuff to be a proper hells angel; I have no tattoos, I'm mostly clean-shaven, and I have no desire to paint my bike matt black or to ride a hideous Virago-cos-I-can't-afford-a-harley...
When I moved to Gloucestershire I had a trail bike, so I bought a cheap open face lid with a view to pottering around discovering the area and doing a bit of green laning. That lasted about half a mile; got hit square in the eye by a bumble bee, giving me a black eye, and I went home to get the full face.
