I have a 2013 1200S and over the winter had some mice chewed through the wiring harness to my ABS module. I have an ABS error message and no speedometer. I think I can repair the damage if I can get the wiring harness removed from the module. However, I cannot figure out how it locks in place. There are two, what look like wheels on either side but don't want to move and I don't want to force anything. Does anyone know how the plug for the wiring harness detaches from the module? Thanks
It’s like a u shaped lever, you have to lift the clip and then plug will release its self from the ABS pump.
Thanks for the reply. On my unit, there is only one long plug that goes into the center of the module and the wires are at the bottom. You can see the chewed wires in the pic at the bottom.
in your picture you can see the bit rotaxracer has shown. look down the body towards where the wiring is. The plastic in between the two sides bridges across. You need to lift that up and rotate it towards you. That makes the 'wheels' (cams) rotate and disengage the connector.
I had a hard time understanding what you meant but followed that piece across and saw it connected both sides. I stuck a screwdriver in where the piece went across the plug and it separated! That arm actually disengages the entire plug when lifted up. Thanks!
Now all I have to do is repair the damage! Amazing how much damage these little critters can do. If anyone has a good method of keeping them out of your bike, let me know
They're small but mighty! I used to have a feral cat that took care of mice and chipmunks until my neighbor killed it! It even caught a 3 ft copperhead snake.
Wiring harness is repaired and I'm back in business. All error warnings are gone. I need to take it for a ride to make sure the speedometer works but I'm optimistic. I spoke to my dealer and a new harness is $1500, not to mention a huge job to replace the entire thing.
