As above - id heard you could get a socket with a plasic insert (snap-on) id heard so you dont damage the nice bright blue preload nut on top of the fork... Any clues anyone (or links)?
tried all that Rags, paper, plastic....kind of works but doesnt....the top of my forks are a little worn, shape is ok but the the anodising (the blue) is worn....found this just after i start the thread.... https://shop.snapon.com/product/Non...--22–17-mm-Non-Marring-Socket-Insert/PSCM2217 The only reason i know about it is when i was getting the z mot'd the mechanic said....
A brilliant idea. A quick google shows Laser, Sealey and others also do them. Edit, laser spanners aswell. Also on E-bay under non marking socket inserts. https://www.lasertools.co.uk/product/7464
got any links? id like to get a few in (so ive got a few spares) before me new NIX30 forks turn up...
40 quid is a bit steep for a whole set (and plastic -in that its a lot for a plastic set) i just want the one (17mm) for the forks but thanks for finding it all the same...is the same set on sealey (been looking but not found yet...
i’ve ordered off e-bay. I read it as £6.99 each set? There was no option of size selection, so hopefully the set turns up.
If you have access to anyone with a 3D printer there’re easy to design and make for around £2. Here’s my version. The hole is to reduce cost and time making socket. Laser parts look good also and ready made.
Sitting bored and for fun here’s the plastic nut that fits a bi hex socket. Thought would cost more but just the same.
Wish I had found these before adjusting the suspension on my Monster 1200R. Tried the tape , but just caused socket to slip off and mark them anyway.
