Does anyone have a Haynes manual for a 1962 Wife please.. Mine has real issues now, got this annoying constant whining sound at present.. The normal avoidance methods are not working this time, I’ve even tried throwing water over the problematic air box area seeing as that’s where most of the annoying and constant whinging is resonating from.. I would take a look at her fan belt but sadly no longer have the adequate tool required, as far as I know no one have accessed that area in years! Involves a lot of stripping just to even get a sighting.. She scraped through her MOT in early April which surprised me.. She guzzles high octane and bloody expensive fuel too, no sooner are supplies of the required red and white mix replenished and they've gone once more and it’s not easy getting a supply these days especially for a vintage like hers.. I’d put her up for sale if I thought there might be takers.. Over the years mind tbf she has been fairly reliable etc but, if anyone is interested and wishes to take her off my hands I’d happily let her go now as I think she’s past repair.. she needs someone Who’s prepared to put up with lots of niggles etc and one with a large wallet as she’s very high maintenance .. Thanks for listening.. X
I have a manual for a 1963 wife if that's any use. Well, it's not a manual as such, more of a decree absolute. Any good?
Have just taken delivery of one of those for my previous 1968 model. Since we parted I had a lovely loaner for a year and half but she developed some serious faults, that I was perfectly willing to live with, however she was stolen by a mutual friend. I'm finding it's better to walk everywhere these days as there's no need for any expensive and exhausting maintenance and I have plenty of free time to do other things. Might get bored and try to find a replacement some time in the future but I'm happy for now.
I had a loaner after the 1963 model went caput but the EMS was erratic and then I had it stolen by a colleague with superior MS Access skills ... I never did thank him. Hmm. Tried various newer models after that but basically, the design flaws of these devices are too much for a rational man to put up with.
I think think you might have missed a recall? Many with these problems have been returned, and replacements found...
Eh? If you're going to add frontal airbags its best to get them at the beginning of the term, not the end!
I did have a secret fling with a much younger model a while back, first day and I had her on the ramp, gave her a poke and a prod from below and tbf I had no complaints. After that and I wanted to see just how well she went, the answer was well and talk about pull, god I thought she’d never stop! I then stopped in a lay-by, checked all her accessories were present and in the correct place before having a fiddle with her twin Webber’s. I did discover late on and to my surprise that occasionally she smoked a little, nothing serious but still annoying, I got a few spluttering coughs from her and a couple of bangs before I decided no, she’s not for me.. Overpriced rather, I would expect a bit more for my money really, X
I’d sell it on and get a later more reliable model, I’ve got a 1979 model now and it’s been far less trouble, other than an impossible to diagnose ECU glitch leading to occasional erratic running (They all do that sir) I’m reasonably impressed.
