Hi all, Anyone know how to remove/re-fit the cable that is connected to the ignition cover on the Hypermotard 796? I just bought a genuine replacement, but it wasnt until I undid the nuts that I realised there is a cable connected to the inside of the cover!! Thanks Stu
Thanks for your reply, I had a feeling that might be the case. So has anyone successfully removed the immobiliser aerial and if so how did you go about it? Thanks Stu
‘fabbed’ you got there. I haven’t taken one out, is the aerial bonded to the ring though or the actual casing? There is a Hypermotard group on Facebook that’s more worldwide you might be better asking on there. It appears and I would hope that it’s bonded to the metal ring not the casing? given you have no need of the casing taken from the bike could you not cut the casing on the opposite side from the aerial and carefully prise the casing from the ring? Obvs being careful once very close to the aerial not to damage it.
I did google it and although it wasn't a Hyper, someone showed a video of them unclipping from the cover on their Ducati........ I will unplug it from the bike later and take a closer look. Thanks
Ok, for anyone who's interested, I managed to remove the immobiliser aerial complete by opening up the 2 retaining lugs inside the ignition cover and then cutting up the side of the cover which allowed me to give it enough flex to unstick the aerial. It isn't actually held in with much glue and probably would have come out without cutting the cover, but as I had a new cover it didn't matter. Job done, new cover installed!
