How the job interviews for the England Managers job really went: "Harry, do you want the job?". "Yes". "Will you do as yer told?". " No" .... “Mr Levy; How much compo do you want?” - “£Millions” "Roy, do you want the job?" "Yes". "Will you do as yer told?" " Yes" ..... “WBA; How much compo do you want?” - “Please, just take the useless old fudger” FA Statement - "We've always wanted Roy for the job"
Reminds me of when they asked Alan Hansen who should play centre midfield for England (Fat Frank or Gerrard) and he said "Without a doubt, Lampard ..... but then I am Scottish  "
Not a fan of the 'overpaidfallingoverwingeingpuffballers' but I must say it does seem that after the FA got their wallets raided by Sven Gollum Ericson and whatever that last foreigner was called they've gone for the 'budget' option. Who is Roy Hodgson anyway he does't sound very Continental?
Not having Rednap is no loss, it will save on the elocution lessons and on buying the Peter and Jane books for him to learn to read.
Given the dummy spitting attitude of most of the 'senior' players, the only logical choice would be Nanny McPhee .....
You're being a bit hard on Woy who is a top bloke and I think a good choice. He was a great manager of Switzerland and they did well under him. Plus he always gave his interviews to the French-speaking media in French - I have no idea if he was doing the German-speaking ones in German. Whatever, for a Brit that's quite an achievement. He's managed in various different countries, so he won't have the parochial island English attitude. Only downside is he's been doing a great job for the Baggies. They are no longer a massive sieve. As a Baggies supporter I can only regret his loss. Can't see Woy doing tax dodges and bonking his secretary. But then, what do I know. Comparing him to McClaren seems a bit harsh. WBA may be only mid-table, but when you look at the budgets of all the teams above them, they are doing about as well as they could be in the circs. As for the Liverpool fiasco, fans' favourite King Kenny isn't getting a lot out of that team, whether they scrape a couple of knock-out competitions or not. Go Woy!
Managing low- and mid- budget players and motivating them to do their best is a lot different from having your pick of the prettiest primadonna ballerina egos and trying to get them to work as a team. That's like herding cats, as someone once said. No, to manage a "top-rate, big name" English team, you need a right cunt with a machinegun (and the desire to use it). I've long said that a better England side would leave the Rooneys at home and consist of a team that is hungry, made up of players who want to help each other to win. Ignore most of the "big stars". Ah, cynical me. Good luck, Roy, you'll need it.
exactly what happened with Sparky Hughes when he left blackburn and went to City. It's the egos you have to be strong with and not pander to them. Hughes was in charge at Blackburn but didnt seem to have that about him at City. mind you, now with Steve "I can talk bollocks for a whole season" Kean at Rovers I would take the guy who manages McDonalds outside the ground as a manager
Ask anyone down our way what they think of Harry, it will not be good. Who manages Southampton AND Portsmouth? He is a greedy so and so who only follows the money, he probably was too expensive. Any way too many prima donnas on the team, why not try a manager who is just a manager and perhaps not so swayed by what the players agents want.
Its a crap job ..... too many prima donnas in the England squad now ... and unless we win the Euro ... he's going to be called crappy and useless manager who recalls Turnip Taylor? Every manager has been slated!! It used to be an honor to pay for your country .. end of Now you have that rug doctor making idle threats about leaving Man U for more money and acting like a brat. I hate Rooney with a passion. He has talent but thats it can't stick him. I sadly like the way Arry speaks as it reminds me of my old neck of the woods I can understand it as well as the well spoken sorts I have both sorts in my family see He always looks half asleep lol. I was surprised to hear he can't read or write ... really?? My great Uncle was Manager of Arsenal years back. George Allison so we have a few Arsenal fans. I myself support from a distance now although I do go see them when they play up here Crystal Palace FC someone has to!! I have no choice but to follow Arsenal as well lol. They are fantastic with kids stuff. The "playboy" sports men of years back where right proper men. George Best , James Hunt , and Barry Sheene . Mind you last time I went to the Emirates Gunnersaurus took a liking to me...maybe he thought I was another old dino? When not watching England play , I will watch Spain and I know I should be patriotic and I am but I hedge a bet of Spain again.
Barry Sheene grew up in my neck of the woods, my mum knew him through David Purley, another playboy of the time. He is the only man who ever made me really go weak at the knees, hubby had to get me a glass of water to help me calm down, hubby thought it was very funny.
Oh lordy! How can the national team, even if they are all over paid prima donna's, end up in a mess like this, with a lump of wood in charge that most people haven't even heard of. I can wait to be a laughing stock....Again :frown:
