Think it might have started for this year Just back from visiting my parents. While there heard a few bikes roaring about in the distance, fair enough. But one sounded like it was getting thrashed a bit too erratically. Then seriously over-reved followed by nothing - for a bit. After a bit fast moving sirens. I then set off for home during which journey I am past by a blue lights ambulance. Hope I am wrong but it did not sound promising. Will check the local papers in day or two. Ride fast but safe - MB.
I'm sure you'll make a decision that's good for both of you. I stopped while the kids were dependant and when I came back to riding I never seemed to get to the level I had when I was racing. It's as if my gyroscopes stopped working. I now get great pleasure from spending a day in the saddle and touring (preferably abroad). So if your fast and and want to stay fast I'd say do track days. Insure for lost income as well as mortgage is the ideal too. TB
Just want to recommend a book - 'Mind Driving' by Stephen Haley. If you apply the mental approach in it, it will make you safer than anything else out there.
20 odd yrs ago me and my mates used to ride around like a bunch lunatics on the Dorset TT, Big group of us, then we’d head to a nearby Ind Est that had a long straight with a roundabout at either end.......you can imagine. Luckily a chance opportunity through work saw me doing a closed track day with Crescent Suzuki with John Reynolds and Nial Mackenzie in charge (Karl Harris (rip) had a broken arm). from then on road riding changed for me, still did it but with less interest because I knew I could never ride it anywhere near the level or relative safety I could on track. So I started doing more and more track days until it got to the point of going all in and buying a track bike or keep a road bike. (Couldn’t afford both) I still enjoyed riding on the road, at a more sedate pace and it was certainly a lot cheaper than doing track days. So the road won out and I switched to naked bikes and now tourers. Still jump on a sports bike from time to time, just to confirm my “been there, done that” Opinion and am glad to bimble along on my Multi taking it all in rather than passing it all at 100mph. Having said all that I’ve no children to worry about, having met my current partner later in life and with her having no kids either it’s not something we really have to consider so we can jump on the bike together without that worry, but I’m not done yet For this world so not planning doing anything that might change that.
“There are old motorcyclists and there are bold motorcyclists, but there are not too many old bold motorcyclists” Kinda sums it up for me
DB can I report Marco Gimpo for bullying please........ Whenever I post a comment I’m sure I can hear the twit sniggering!!!!!
