Stainless Steel Fasteners

  1. The calliper pinch bolts on my bike were looking very sub standard so a search on eBay found me this.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-S...dline-front-rear-brake-calipers-/151464170064

I noticed that in the next day or two there was a window where free P&P was to be had so I waited for the day to arrive and the add had pushed it forward to the following day. This happens every time the free post day approaches. Not only that the P&P charges are more than the item is quoted at.

    SO

I looked elsewhere and found https://www.accu.co.uk/en/. Where I not only ordered the pinch bolts for my callipers but also the screws for my new ally cam belt covers. All in A4 (marine) grade SS. order place 20:00 hours Monday and delivered 16:30 Wednesday. Packaging was brilliant with each item type separately bagged and very clearly identified.

Also the pinch bolts cost was £4.68 compared to the EBay shister’s £5.75 and P&P for 19 bolts/screws was £2.95 not to mention his product was probably A2 grade SS. So stay well away from powerhouse-uk.

Reasonable? Or am I just being a MOG?

  2. They aren't low profile heads so will stick out

  3. During normal times, I buy my stainless fasteners from the local fixings supplier on a local industrial estate.
They are very cheap, typically under a tenner for a bag of various size fasteners (say 50 of them).

  4. 3mm. I can live with that. If I had gone for grade A2 they would have been 30% cheaper.

  5. That's very low profile! I meant the Ebay ones

  6. I may have misled you. The existing ones measure 5mm thick and the new ones are going to be 8mm thick i.e. 3mm will protrude from the calliper body, assuming the originals are flush.

  7. Ah, OK - I thought 3mm was thin :)

  8. Kayfast do lowhead A2 by mail order

  9. Just checked the thread which is 1.25

  10. Jeez thats ti prices...!

  11. Just had a look on Ricambi Moto site and they don’t do LP 40mm bolts. They also don’t tell you what grade of SS it is so A2 is assumed.

  12. Where are you buying your ti from?

  13. Ah - just seen that was for 8.....sorry my apologies...mines for one!!

  14. Kayfast are cheaper but you don’t have the option to go for A4. And their delivery is very comparable.

  15. Just removed the front wheel to get some new tyres fitted and alongside all the new SS nipples, banjo bolts and pinch bolts I have fitted the M10 x 1.5 calliper fixing bolts are looking a tad sad. Can I safely fit SS A4 grade bolts in their place.

Am just a shade nervous about substituting such a safety critical component. My usual supplier can provide A4-80 grade bolts as opposed to A4-70.
