  1. For sure, I definitely wouldn’t lie about it but I’ve never been asked about it with my insurance. It was 4yrs ago now though.

  2. given the info sharing and data now available im sure they can see if they look anyhow...

  3. Really Andy? So every sign is always fantastically placed, never obscured or dirty & so on? Look I’m not excusing the fact that she was caught speeding or the fact that even though it was “just 35mph on a suddenly changed 40mph“ dual carriageway, she broke the law & got caught. Her annoyance is with herself. I think the speed course will help her as it did me & as they are intended to do. Still doesn’t mean that sometimes signage could be better placed or maintained imo

  4. sometimes driving is more than one bit of info....the clues are there if we pay attention, most driving faults come down to observation, but it isnt anyone else fault!
yes i know its a pain, yes i may agree its overkill, yes i can be just as cynical (probably even more) as the next about the whole thing, but it is what it is...

  5. I agree & have said so above, that’s what my speed course taught me which is why I support them. A quick £100 fine & 3 points would’ve has no lasting effect on me if I’m honest

  6. i dont even think insurance companies take much notice of just 3 points these days they are so common..

  7. We are not all perfect, but imho speed traps require a good bit of straight road, laybyes and maybe bridges etc, so in the bendy bits it’s extremely unlikely to get nicked except by unmarked vehicles? Urban keep it 30mph max, although half of loony left London is 20mph now! And at this time of year there are plenty of speed signs overgrown with leaves etc, can be missed so it’s a shitter when you get pulled on one that’s very tricky to spot! Satnav can help in showing the localised limit, but it’s not 100% accurate and not a full substitute.

  8. true to a point but if ofcourse it’s an excuse to increase the premium by a bit.

  9. Oh yes insurance companies are there to make money... not People happy

  10. I would refine that a bit: insurance companies are there to make money.... and people unhappy.

  12. reminds me of a SA course I did a few years ago, apparently Hampshire is not affiliated to the national speed awareness syndicate. If you get done for speeding on Hampshire roads you have to do your SA course in Hampshire. There was a woman on our course from Leeds who got done for speeding whilst down on holiday. She had to take two days off work, stay over night in a hotel the night before. She was not a happy bunny.
