Hyper 950 Comfort Seat

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by steeley, May 31, 2020.

  1. I'm interested to know if anyone has invested in the official comfort seat for the 950 and if they think it's a worthwhile investment. As with all Ducati accessories, it's a pretty penny and other than borrowing one to try which is virtually impossible, any feedback would be grateful to help in the decision making process.

  2. Well, I bought one for my 821 hyper so I would be surprised if very different.
For me it took moves the ridge that isn’t in the best place on the standard seat. For me that allows me to sit in a more natural position .
But I guess the main thing is for me it’s way way better and I wouldn’t think about putting the original back on.

  3. The comfort seat is too high for me but I got the official racing seat which reduces the height by 1.5cm. And I can tell you I couldn't be happier with it. It looks great. I had several seats (for my Ducati Scrambler) modified by several local leather workers but none could have done it better than those official seats. So I went ahead with an official racing seat for the hyper 950 and I'm very glad I did.

  4. Thanks for your response but I'm interested particularly in the 'comfort' aspect of the comfort seat. Is the padding density any different from standard on the racing seat or just lower would you know ?

  5. I think you would need to wait for someone with actual Comfort seat for that answer. On my racing and original seat, the foam seems the same, just the curve is slightly adjusted to achieve the reduced height I think.

  6. I have one on order, I'll post up once it comes in. They're back ordered and supposed to be released June 10th.

  7. Thanks dailydR1ver, a direct comparison would be great. I'm sure it will be more comfy than standard but from what I'm reading, the riders seat is 15mm higher (which I don't particularly want) and the pillion area is only 5mm higher, which is the area I was interested in for my significant other. Ideally, I'd like a higher, better padded pillion pad and keep the rider dimensions the same. I think the only route to this would be a Corbin seat, but they're mega money. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Any pics of the Hypermotard comfort seat?

  9. As soon as it comes in, I will post pics and a ride review.

  10. Hi,

I have just advertised the Hypermotard 950 Low Seat for sale - if anyone is interested?

  11. I called yesterday and they said the tracking shows it's in the US... So hopefully any day now.

  12. Is it NOT comfortable then?

  13. I had a chance to sit on one only, no riding.

The seat height difference was negligible and honestly, not that big of a deal. For reference, im 6'0.

The foam felt "softer" and more plush. It also felt like it did away with the odd ridges that your thighs grip which eventually started to bother me as I rode. The "dish" in the seat is also a little bit different than the factory seat but without actual seat time, I couldnt tell you if this would be more comfortable.

I will say this. I have a corbin seat that is absolutely MAGICAL. I can sit on the saddle of my Hyper without any hot spots, sore spots or a constant need to shift. I couldn't' be happier with my purchase.

  14. Magz- thanks for the feedback. I've had very good reports about Corbin seats and will have to have a think about the $533 investment, being even more than the DP product. These kind of upgrades always hold a decent second hand value if the bike is changed, so I may be able to talk myself into it. :upyeah:

  15. Hatrick - can I ask why you're moving the low seat on ?

  16. Honestly, for 500 bucks, I would rather get a gel pad and place it under the seat, for a fraction of this cost. Hypermotard 950 seat is not comfortable at all so I've been considering changing it. If I run out of options, I will try to give Corbin a shot. I don't really like the design of Corbin seat much. I would rather have something low profile with little to no decoration.

  17. The corbin seat doesn't really add much in the way of height to the seat. Their website makes the passenger area seem HUGE, with their "fastback" design.

I'm anything but a fanboy but man, this seat is really more than I had hoped for. I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase and it is absolutely NOT due to "post coitus elation" lol. :) Here's a pic:

  18. I'm glad you are happy with your purchase. I don't even know how to feel if you are not happy spending 500 bucks on a seat lol.

Yes, I'm not a big fan of the fastback seat. I would rather have something flat out just like the OEM seat. So something in between? Probably will have to talk to Corbin and see if they can customize it a bit more than what they are offering right now. I don't care if there is no foam on the passenger seat since I don't plan to ride a Hypermotard with someone on the back, just need a flat out seat lol. If you could take some more detailed pictures, I would really appreciate it.

  19. I hear ya. One of my initial concerns was that going to the Corbin seat would take away from what little I did like about the factory seat. The flat seat was actually pretty awesome for moving around. The rest of its "features", not so much.

I took a pretty large gamble on the Corbin. I did a ton of research on Corbin in general and the consensus was split. Some people loved their seats and others hated them. There were NO owner reports from Hypermotard users for the 950 model year. I gambled and won out. I wont lie and say that I was initially confident in my purchase. Their stock photos are...bad. They make it seem like the fastback hump is HUGE and that the dish in the seat is gigantic.

In actual reality, the pillion area is not as huge as I initially anticipated and the dish is JUST right. You can still move around quite a bit in the seat. It hugs you without being restrictive. As I said, i'm SUPER pleased. I will also admit that I think the price is kinda on the high side but I guess comfort is worth it.

Ill try and get some more photos for you tomorrow. What would you like to see?

Also, I hope i'm not crapping on the original intent of this thread.
