I've been having a quick look on eBay out of interest. As I said elsewhere today, the plan will be to get a new Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel and spend a few thousand on a road bike that will be for track days, mainly. I would prefer another Ducati like a 748 or 749, but I may not be able to afford one. I want a road bike as I don't want to have to get a van and use that to transport a track bike around. My comment is: the bike above, like the one before that in my search, only has one key. WTF wouldn't you order another spare key if you've lost yours? If you only have one key and you lose it, then you are screwed. I don't get it -even for a bike under 5K you think to yourself, "I'll sell it but I can't be f*c*ed to get another key. I'll just leave that to somebody else." So, sucker new owner loses the key and is well and truly screwed. It's not as so you are paying well under the odds. I think that if you've got someone who can't be arsed to replace the key. What else couldn't they be bothered to do? If you are the genuine owner, then it's not that difficult to get a spare key.
My track bike has 1 key. Only reason I've not got another is I can't be arsed to take it to a Suzuki garage on a trailer. If I lose it I'll just make it keyless.
I bought my 796 monster with only 1 key and 5 previous owners in 5 years . I've trebled the mileage on it in 3 years and it's been perfect .

[/QUOTE] These are road bikes and my worry would be: what else can you not be arsed to do? You don't have to take the bike to a dealer. They just need the log bike and the key to copy, I think.
Until you lose the key. Or if you lose the key, you sell the bike for top dollar. In the description, you put "careful owner but I lost the only key and couldn't be bothered to sort it out - yeah, conscientious owner, me!".
If I owned a nine previous owner shitbox Honda, I wouldn't clean it, let alone get another key for it.
And I wouldn't mind a bit of honesty, so if they were to say, "nine previous owner shitbox Honda, that I can't be arsed to clean, let alone get another key for", then you know that you are dealing with an honest seller. A lazy honest seller!

I can be arsed with oil changes, brake fluid changes, chain+ sprocket changes, suspension refresh, stupid money on tyres, etc. Etc. Etc.
When I bought my 2009 Monster 1100S it only had one key, I just took the key to a locksmith one day, left it with him for a short time whilst I did my shopping and €90 later picked it up complete with a second key (which works). Surely it's not necessary to physically take the bike, any bike, to the dealer? Or maybe key transponder/immobiliser technology has moved on?
Depends. On the Gixer, iirc pre-2007 it’s just a key, post it includes the chip for immobiliser So Timpsons can’t do them.
