Question For All You Road Cyclists Out There....................

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by El Toro, Apr 6, 2020.

  1. Cyclists are cool :p

  2. I agree it's an idiotic thing to do on any mode of transport that requires your input, however whilst in control of a bicycle it isn't an offence for the other modes of transport it is. I wouldn't ride in a bunch ride with cyclists around me it's just idiotic. The uproar against drivers would be because it's illegal as well a plain stupid.

So are you outraged that's it's not also illegal for them or just plain idiotic.

Again in this thread you mistakingly believe that cyclist are obliged by some made up law to single out to allow you to squeeze past even though it isn't the case.

  3. Just plain idiotic. And very dangerous to others

  4. Rule 66 of the Highway Code states that cyclists “should never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends”. In addition, rule 68 says cyclists “MUST NOT ride in a dangerous, careless or inconsiderate manner”

  5. Are you sure ET? Really? I find it hard to believe that 6 cyclists were riding up a hill and all were texting on their phones.

  6. Reading the highway code? What cyclist is ever gonna read that? They can read???

  7. Given that a lot of cyclists also use motorised vehicles and would be of an age where a test was required rest assured they have.

I look forward to the day you've ridden your motorcycle without having broken at least the speed limit.

ElToro doesn't mention the hilly road being narrow, so let's assume it was more hill than narrow. Narrow suggests to me no White lines painted, you?

So a road with White lines isn't narrow cyclist aren't required to single out, I'll let the group of cyclist decide narrow as the risk is greater to them in the event of a collision.

Whether the cyclist is solo or 2 abreast I still wait until the oncoming side of the road is clear before moving over onto that side of the road. It seems you're the let's give the cyclist 6 inches of space as you drive by so as not to inconvenience yourself to much.

Just so you know it's 1.5 metres which would require you to place your car into the oncoming side.

Define busy 1 persons busy is another quiet. Is using a mobile phone dangerous careless or inconsiderate?

Could the cyclists involved in these heinous crimes that upset some on here actually be prosecuted successfully.

The only successful I recall is furious riding when a cyclist was speeding.

  8. Yes. I’m positive

  9. I have only cut and paste an extract from the highway code, why are you so annoyed about it? :bucktooth:

  10. I'm not annoyed bud, you must try harder to annoy.

  11. They were riding two abreast and though it was a “normal” width road, it was uphill, it was twisty and it was busy. But let me repeat.........they were ALL riding holding the handlebars with one hand whilst texting on their mobile phones with their other hand.

  12. Are you one of those cyclistisses

  13. My moneys on it being a co-ordinated group chat between the 6 lycrapaedos telling each other to “hold position” up the hill to maximize the traffic behind them building up.

  14. Well my money’s on them being on uni cycles. Perhaps from a travelling circus. Maybe getting a bit of training in.

  19. Thats a devil uphill twisties, like an Alpine ascent or Dolomites Stelvio maybe. So if it's twisty it wouldn't be safe to pass as you can't see what's coming the other way or not that twisty because you can?

Ah I see the problem, not real cyclist having to hold the bars. Thats a relief I thought you were talking Bona Fida riders.

Probably worried about their Strava times for that segment.
