Old Or Ex Dealerships

  1. I used to regularly drive through Clyffe Pippard, Broad Hinton and Rockley, then into Marlborough past the Rugby Club when commuting from Brizzle to Winchester.
The road up the hill from Dauntsey Lock to Lyneham is on unstable ground with continual slippage leading to “interesting” road profiles as sections fall away.

  2. Hence big off.....

  3. My first bike a dt 50 came out of coburn and Hughes in Northampton

  4. 1
I grew up in Wroughton. We could hear the racing and I thought that it was brilliant. My folks hated it!

If you were local, there were ways to sneak in to RAF Wroughton. Not that I would do such a dastardly thing as a teenager! When I started racing, Wroughton was no longer used. As I was sharing a bike, I never did a full season and my first outing was Castle Combe! A proper race track! I did a practice day at Hullavington and at some godforsaken airfield in South Wiltshire. I remember it because I still had a very badly sprained ankle from a Brands Hatch crash a week before. That's bugging me and I'm gonna find out where it was....

  5. Colerne?...

  6. Can you remember if they were Ducati dealers? And are they still there or have thy gone?

  7. Years ago... I took my 851 to a guy who worked out of his garage in Weston Supermare.... He was ex Coburn&Hughes iirc...

  8. It was 37 years ago :joy: it was next the fish market in Northampton from memory although memory is fuzzy ...no idea if it’s still a business

  9. Yes!

I have a vague memory of NGMCC using Gloucester airport. It was hardly used then and my mind may be playing tricks on me. And they may of used Pembrey. I did race and did well at Mallory Park but pretty sure that was a different club. Something & Retford MCC if I remember correctly

  10. There were quite a few back in ‘96.

  14. Yeah, that's the section on 'interest'. In my day, I think that it was national speed limit, but now I think that is 40 or 50.

I am just gobsmacked that people know it! So much for being my private race track!

  15. 40mph through Dauntsey Lock, then National Speed Limit to the top of the hill last time I went that way, though it had recently been resurfaced and was no fun at all!

  16. Moto Cinelli were the importers and I thought that they also had a showroom somewhere on the South Circular. I think that I may be wrong.

  17. If I remember correctly, after coming down the banks, or before going up it, there was a requirement to take off going over the railway bridge. So I'm told...

  18. Yeah.. I've raced
I've raced at Kemble..... Loved it.... Got into the biggest slap I'd ever had... Feet shaken off footrests jobbie..... It just stopped.... And I got on with chasing down Sheene .... (lie)
