He is checking the whole thing over first of all....it seems to be seals, mainly...oil been peeing out........but as far as I am aware he can re-valve and repair.....and re-gas etc
I agree that MCT are good, but as you say........busy. The guy at SCM is OK and could probably do whatever you wanted, but he has spent the last god knows how many years as a hydraulics specialist and is the sort that believes if the factory fitted something of a ceratin spec, then it should remain like it..... ...mind you after years of tuning engines for extra performance and found the life of some of the engines I did was limited, even though they went like hell; I am now of a similar mind of leaving the basic OEM spec alone. But as your shorter shock is for obvious reasons ( I nearly need one like it too...) then he may entertain the idea of doing it......Don't forget the travel on the SS isn't that much and I don't know how it compares to Monster.....
