After my absence last year, I was left with two knackered batteries. Both replaced now and as I am not riding ATM, both are on smart chargers. One is on a noco genius g7200 that I bought last year and one is on a Optimate 3 on a bench - the battery is to go in a ST3. I suspect that the Optimate is not working properly and this is my third. Overall, I have found the Optimate reliability pretty poor as this is at least my third that has gone wrong. The noco genius g7200 is pretty good but seems to be either not be available or very expensive depending upon who the retailer is. So, any recommendations for a smart battery conditioner/charger like the Optimate?
NOCO are available fromHalfords with trade card. I like the NOCO’s, good piece of kit The lower capacity chargers are quite well priced.
Found a noco genius g7200 exactly like the one I have on eBay, now. Expensive but I can't remember what I paid for the other one! As I know it works and is good, I'll by it and that will be me sorted! And more poor!!!
It's about half the price of the NOCO Genius but It's is tempting to get another the same to keep my life simple. I will sleep on it.
What prices are you finding ? The latest generation Noco for bikes is this, https://no.co/genius2 which is about £45 in the UK. I have a 7200 for the car and leisure battery and 4 x Genius 2s for the bikes we use regularly. Plug in and leave. Andy
Have you had a look at Amazon.co.uk ? Go to the bike and car section, then type in the search bar something like "intelligent battery charger" and see what comes up? Amazon deliveries are quick and reliable. I have an Aldi special that works with bikes and cars, plus an Optimate 2 that came with the duke.
My optimate 2 is fucked, had to use it a few weeks back and no joy, saying that i have had it 6 years.
I've got an old Oxford Oximiser 600 that I've used for around 10 years, if not longer. Still going strong and now taking care of my 899.
I got this on Fleabay: Not cheap but I wanted one identical to the one that I already have - so I can just interchange them irrespective of where I've put the bike. It is old stock, probably, as I don't think this is available anymore. The one that I've got just sits there attached to my ST2. Just sits there and works whilst surviving our frequent power cuts! Happy with that! When I get some dosh, I will buy a new bike but almost certainly part ex one of my Ducatis - need to get them fixed and on the road first! But whether I buy a Guzzi or KTM, I will still have a Ducati. And it may be another Ducati anyway!
