Hamilton Spoiler!

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Arquebus, Nov 6, 2020.

  1. Ronnie O'Sullivan a man who hates the sport he plays so much, he carries on doing it, a twat if ever there was one! People can say what they want about Hamilton, but the man has broken all world records in his sport. Whether you like him or not, that demands some respect. It is so typical of this country and it's people, of which I am one to just build people up to knock them down as soon as they are successful. We should be proud about it, instead of picking faults and thinking it was easy!! Very sad..

  3. Don’t know but for sure rally cars do better on the F1 circuits than do F1 cars on the forest sections I would think;)

  4. But you’re kinda missing the point. Tax avoidance, I get that. But if you’re gonna do it, keep your mealy fucking mouth shut....

  5. I don't think anyone's questioning his achievements. Foggy was very unpopular during his career because he also came across as a twat. Maybe when LH retires, he'll chill a bit and become a bit less cuntish. I doubt it though.... :D

  6. Isn't it for the government to close those tax loops? I don't think you should be able to register your plane in the Ilse of man anf avoid paying VAT any more than I think Amazon and Starbucks etc should get away with paying next to no tax. I don't blame the people who legally avoid tax, I would do the same, I blame the country for allowing it to happen.

Jonathan Rea, Superbike World Champion 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 pride of Britain yet no Knighthood calls, no sports personality of the year recognition for the quiet man.

  8. That is a fair shout! Another incredible achievement and also still going strong, he was runner up on Sport Personality of the year, which i might point out is voted for by the public, so unfortunately shows how much motorcycle racing is covered and supported in our country.. No knighthood call? Is that not our fault as fans?

  9. You don’t earn respect from any achievement regardless of what it is in my opinion! You earn respect for the kind of human being you are!

  10. In the real world, you’re right, that’s what “maketh the man” but in the honours system there is an argument for recognising incredible achievement that promotes your country & it’s values & it’s always been so. Bike sport has always been under represented, it’s just not mainstream enough.

  14. Steve Webster - ten times (yes TEN) world sidecar champion between 1987 and 2004. The most successful sidecar racer of all time. In his final season he won British, European and World titles. An absolute legend. A sporting hero. And, crucially, a nice guy and a true gentleman.
No mention of a knighthood for Steve...

  16. But with the best will in the world, how many people, even in this country, have ever heard of him? Ours is a minority sport & sidecar racing a fraction of a fraction of that minority. I’m not dissing him & was/am a fan but you can’t represent your country as a Knight of the Realm when no one knows who you are. Harsh, but that’s the reason a motorcycle sidecar racer will never be knighted.

  17. So I'm bolloxed for mine then?

Oh, well, I have enough swords here.........I will DIY.

  18. I’m sorry, that argument doesn’t hang together with this list of sports persons that have been knighted, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sporting_knights_and_dames. I’d say netball is more minority than motorcycle racing and one player was made a dame. Andy

  19. I think the thing that winds me up more than anything about Lewis is the endless shite about him being picked up on talent and nothing to do with money because he was ‘poor’.

whilst I don’t know the family, I know the situation from people close to Lewis (not anymore). He was also in the karting paddocks when I was a lad. If he was poor, then I’m a Demi God.

  20. Yup fair point, although I don’t know what else she did outside of “just” playing netball, but as a rule, minority sports are not recognised in the way that the likes of Football, Tennis, athletics & Car motor racing often are
