Speaking of data breaches, this site is useful: https://haveibeenpwned.com. Put your email address(es) in and it'll tell you if you have an account that's been compromised. If you have, change the password immediately.
As everyone knows Perry, if you look up the word “Upgrade” in the glossary of an IT book, you’ll find that it means “Completely and irrevocably f*ck things up” and that “Customer support” means “Blame every other device on the network”.
That seems like an absolutely outstanding way for phishers and hackers to harvest a load of working email addresses. Also, if you have to open a password protected account they can pwn that too and as we know, lots of people used the same one or variations on a theme across several accounts
It does, I thought the same thing at first, but the site has been around for ages and is legit. I'm not sure what you mean by "if you have to open a password protected account they can pwn that too". Using obvious passwords (children's names), simple variations, or easy-to-guess ones (password123) is asking for trouble. Losing money is one thing. Lose your identity and you're in for a world of pain trying to prove who you are and getting back control.
