Can anyone help with me this indicator bulb fitted to my Indian made Enfield Bullet. Can't get one for love nor money anywhere I have tried, due to it's unusual location pin configuration. The bulb type from a Lucas cataloge is : LL245a. I ordered some from BEEDSPEED after carefully explaining the 'Offset' pin configuration but when they arrived they were not what I needed; they supplied me with the correct style bulb but the pins were 180' opposed. Looking at the underside of the bulb, if say one of the pins is at 12 o'clock, the other pin is at 5 o'clock. Absolutely no reason for the pins to be this way as it's a single filament, so no need to have this unusual arrangement that I can see, but that's the way the lampholder is , so can only fit in a bulb who's location pins are like this. Any pointers to where I can obtain one appreciated.
Chris That looks like the little devils, Many thank. I did look on e bay but didn't notice that. I was in India earlier on this year and managed to buy loads of bits and pieces for the bike but forget to include these bulbs on my shopping list.
Ken Engine spares for the old iron barreled 500's are getting rarer these days in India, and fetching a pretty penny. Rode all over the place risking life and limb trying to get a head gasket for a 500. Still all part of the fun and keeps me out of mischief!
Here maybe? Hitchcocks Motorcycles - Home Page Plenty of bulbs etc.....including the orange indicator ones..... AL.
Al Thanks for that, have got bits from them in the past, I did phone them up about the bulbs but they didn't have any of the 'strange ' pin configuration that I required. Will no doubt be seeking your help in the future as I remember you have had a few Bullets. I have also been buggering about with float levels! One thing I can say in the Bullets favor is I can literally remove the carb' and have the float out in less than 60seconds !
Yes, I was 'with' military personnel for a couple of years..............but the holes don't show much now... .......joking aside....the last Bullet I had was in 1977 / 78.......I did find one for sale the other day in really good low mileage condition............if it hadn't been a 350, I would have flogged the SS to get it.........I want to turn one into my version of the current Clubman. AL.
Anth Thanks for that. I have now ordered the set of 5 from Chrisw' s post. Still a mystery though why the 'strange' pin configuration is needed, as there is no need to orientate the bulb in any particular position as it's a single pole jobby!
Perhaps they tried a Ducati trick of fitting something 'odd' just to make it 'Dealer Only' so it could be more expensive??? Or is it for some regulatory reason so that a white bulb can't be fitted when an orange one fails??? If it were me, I would have changed the bulb holders by now..... AL.
Good points Al I hadn't thought about the regulatory aspect. That makes sense to me, although believe me the last thing to worry about when trying to survive in the Indian traffic is the colour of indicator bulbs!
Well, I have just received my bulbs that I ordered, and what a surprise- still not what I require, the pins are 180' opposed as where the others I ordered. I have sent an inquiry to the place that XxAnthxX posted about and await a reply.
Those look really familiar, but I cant honestly remember where I used them as it was ages ago, the same offset on the bulb . It was however,in a car so a general auto shop (the older traditional ones rather than Halfords - dont rule them out though) may know what they are or point you at some specific dealers who may stock them.
Dave G I have seen offset pin bulbs on a car as well, they were indicator bulbs but were 21w. It's only the lack of this bulb which is stopping me from getting an M.O.T
Al I might have to resort to that If I can't get any bl**dy bulbs, but I really think that it should be possible to get a bulb somewhere surely. I don't know where I would get a conventional bulb holder that would locate in the indicator 'stalk' though, do you? And, while I have your attention, I need what I think is called a 'Throttle adjuster' for my Le, as seen in the photo, any ideas?
