i'm trying to sort out a wiring loom before putting a 996 back together, whoever had it in the past has totally bodged the ingnition swtich connection to the end of the battery loom, proper shite job of just twisting the wires together and covering them in insulation tape. i want to get a proper connector on there but i'm struggling to find how to get the below sorted, how do i connect 3 to 1 but within the connector? any help is much appreciated
I'm not sure what you mean. The blue and the white red wires form the ignition switch are not used. It is a 6 pin connector but only 4 wires are connected on the loom side. Edit: Sev just beat me to it.
that makes it easier! so i jsut need to feed the blue and the white/red into the connector (for tidyness i suppose) but they serve no purpose clearly on a rating of 1 to 10 in reading electrical diagrames i'm scoring around minus 3
Yes, many 2 strokes use a self generating CDI ignition that needs to be grounded to kill the engine when the bike is switched off. These extra contacts could be used for that.
