https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55227325 I have to say that I’m torn over the criteria of who gets it first.
I received my Gp text message yesterday for bookings in the first week in january,it's like a knock on the door from the Jehovah Witness lot...No Thanks.
Be interested to see if it is as many suspect that the gov won’t make it mandatory (they can’t really) but will make it as difficult as possible for you to go anywhere unless you do. so basically making it mandatory.
Will be interesting to see when it becomes available as part of travel jabs as opposed to the priority groupings roll out.Various noises from different parts of the globe heading in the direction of no jab, no flights etc, yet no info currently available for private purchase if you need to travel for work. With the projected 5-6 weeks for full immunity after both vaccinations, a lot of folk who travel for graft could be shafted going forward. After not working since first lockdown, I have recently received contact for 6m graft abroad early in the new year. The last thing I need will be tightened travel policies revolving around compulsory vaccination and then no way to actually get one. (outside of potential travel restrictions for work, I would be happily never take the damn jab).
Are you happy to have the vaccine, if available and an employer insists ? I’m waiting to see what happens, wouldn’t be a surprise if we can only go offshore if we have had the vaccine.
I've been in the same situation for multiple other vaccines over the years due to work and have had to take them in order to keep the job. Stuff that has been voluntary, I have weighed up the risks and acted accordingly. This will be no different, though I fear it will fall on the compulsory side of the fence at some point.
Wife told me they will give you a card that you can use showing you covid-safe. Tell you what, lets make it a card, double up with driving licence, NI card, hell we can add things like blood type and medical history. Then you just need that one thing to go anywhere That's the ticket, just do that And we can scan it so if you have a criminal record, don't earn enough, come from the wrong part of town, have travelled somewhere unsavoury, have some odd proclivities we can exclude you from things we don't want you doing.... Poh, er, ok maybe not.....
I'm in no rush to have it. However, I feel travel will be made difficult without it. If it wasn't for euro trips I wouldn't even consider it.
The old dear who got the vaccine was last seen in a apple store smashing up iPhones and iPads. Good old Bill Gates
Its a funny area that. We are crazy about keeping info private here in uk, yet still have quite a high level of id theft issues. (ive had fake store card accounts, gas + electric, and dodgy cashpoint withdrawals back before card cloning was common). When I was living in sweden, all of your info was publicly accessible (phone number, home address and ownership, tax records, car reg and insurance etc), yet ID theft was far less prolific. Everything was connected to your personal id number which was merely your date of birth plus 4 random digits. You gave that number to anyone to do anything from deliveries from shops to setting up credit accounts so it wasnt exactly secret.
Apparently far less road rage incidents when a persons home address can easily be found from their car reg....
That would be carnage in the U.K. Sweden is a very different country this this overcrowded murky little island
