  2. I ran around with a number plate the size of a postage stamp for a few years with no bother.

but it is just something else they’ll stick on you if they fancy it

  3. I’m all in favour of a slightly smaller plate to suit the aesthetic of the bike
But you might be pushing your luck there.

Only one way to find out.

  4. The answer to your question is no, it’s not legit, never mind the size, it’s the spacing that will get you noticed, but whether you’ll get away with it depends on what mood Plod’s in at the time

  5. Yeah... they are out to get you if they want to....

number plate rules are quite complicated but precise so size font spacing amount of lines border where the plate was made.... are just a few bits you could be prosecuted for.... and you would only have yourself to blame..... rather than they!

  6. I really didn’t expect it to be this small. In my ‘head’ I pictured it larger. I suppose every inch matters. Lol.
    Oh well, waste of 30quid.

  7. Nah stick it on, go for it!

  8. It's not a dinnerplate size so NO but i've one at 130mmH x 165mmW on one bike and no issues for seven years.

  9. Ooohhh. This gives me hope.

  10. It’s not going anywhere till spring. I suppose I could stick it on till then.

  11. You do live in London so that could be a problem with the Bow St runners.

  12. On another note, I’m thinking of getting the R&G tail tidy which moves the plate to the left of the wheel.
And then was thinking of getting a module from the USA (custom LED) which converts the brake lights to indicators.
But not sure if that is legal in the UK... anyone know?
I was certain that the UK requires orange indicator lights...

    Any guidance will be appreciated.

  13. I in fact come under Thames Valley Police... they’re not too bad. I used to have a black/silver plate on a previous R1... I was pulled, for not having road tax but they didn’t bring up the plate.

  14. I'm not upto speed these days but do you get a warning first and a chance to replace the plate to the correct size or is it 3 points & a fine now days.

  15. They need to be orange and since 2019 they have to be 150mm distance from the edge of the brake light too.

  16. Thanks for this. Just saved myself £150! :)

  17. I think it’s a £60 fine. I’ll have a look on the .gov website.

  18. Looks like i'm on borrowed time then as all the bikes plates are smaller than the standard size on mine.:worried:

  19. I suppose if they can read them, they’re probably not too bothered. Throw in non reflective plates and italics etc then they’ll have you...
