Not Getting It

  1. At the moment, I am not supposed to travel anywhere and we'll start a new lockdown.

Brittany Ferries keep emailing to tell me to book my '21 holiday.

With people from almost every football club in the top tiers testing positive for covid, there is no chance to having a break in he season - money from Sky and BT is more important that any scumbag footballers, or worse still, a 65 year-old managers', health.

So, the priority is to get my holiday booked and pay BT or SKY to see live football. Maybe they will start a live paytv channel soon to watch people dying... they could justify it by splitting the proceeds with the NHS!

  2. Mate, we now live in a society where all you are allowed to do is work and shop under supervision. I’m just waiting for them to start handing out adult nappies

  3. At least coming into 2020 we had no clue what was in front of us. To welcome in 2021 is a different kettle of fish altogether. We know it’s going to be more of the same.

  4. The BBC quoted that it will take to around April to get all of the first real tier of people fully jabbed up, with their 2 injections needed so travel is going to be incredibly restricted for a good chunk of 2021.

But of course on the plus side we are heading in the right direction.

  5. If they outsourced the vaccine rollout to Aldi and Lidl checkout staff tomorrow they’d have the job done by the 3rd January :upyeah:

  6. Phew!

From the title I thought you'd decided the BMW wasn't any good after all!

    Edit
Oh hang on I just read about the Kwacker!

  7. The BMW is still very much in the frame and I've just added the Kawasaki to the mix. I'm only put off the BMW (a little bit) by the fact that the nearest motorcycle dealer is in Cheltenham (about 25 miles away) or Dick Lovetts who are really a car dealer with no bike history. I can get the Kawasaki from Frasers who are my nearest bike dealer of any make and when I had Kawasakis, I dealt with them for parts (and they might of done servicing when I needed it done by a dealer for warranty) so I have some loyalty to them as well as visiting after I got out of residential and they bought me coffee and set me up on a sofa watching TV!

When I get my license and my Ducatis running and I can ride, I will visit Frasers in Gloucester and BMW in Cheltenham. A lot will depend upon what happens then. I wanna buy new and this will most likely be my last bike, as I tend to hold to things for a while, although an electric bike might come later as I intend to visit Amped Motorcycles in Newport (Amped only sell electric bikes).

  9. When I started all this sh1t off, I did say somewhere about my desire to shop local. This all went out the window with talk of Ducatis, BMWs, Guzzis, and KTMS. Now, although Frasers is about 12 miles away, they are local (as you can get, because nobody sees the opportunities for a motorcycle dealership in Berkeley, where there must be at least three motorcyclists within 5 miles!) so if I end with a Kawasaki, then I have shopped local!

But...I have just ordered whisky and gin from Amazon. I could buy local but I would struggle with the weight to carry home. Sooooooooo, Mr Hypocrite, me -who may be p1ssed when my Amazon delivery arrives, next week!

  10. I dont see a big problem really. I am booked on Brittany Ferries for September, and had to get it booked last year as the boats were filling up fast. Most of this Covid tiers and lockdown carry-on is bollox anyway. It'll all be sorted well before then. Brexit is finally nailed down so onwards and upwards.
On Sky/Netflix/Prime/BT/IPTV (I have 'em all) you either have spare money or you don't. If you don't then you cut your cloth accordingly, if you do - then you spend it as you wish. I have never had as much spare cash as I have over the last few months, I keep spending on stuff online but it still mounts up at month end ... I must have pissed thousands away on pointless fripperies before. :)

  11. I hope that everything will be sorted by September but I am definitely not putting any of my money on it. I might of used Brittany Ferries to go to Spain and you have to believe that Spain will all be sorted out by them. Maybe, or maybe not, but I am certainly not putting my money on it. And I haven't looked, but I'd be pretty sure that any holiday insurance would be useless.

  12. Brittany will refund 90% of your money if the sailings are cancelled. They only take a deposit now and the balance before sailing, so there is little financial risk. There is however a very realistic chance you may not get the crossings you want unless you prebook early ;)

  13. And if the sailing is not cancelled but the country you are going to will not let Brits in?

  14. The wording is something like due to Covid. But given we are talking about a 3 or 4 quid or so on the deposit, I wasn't too worried Worst case is losing 10% of the deposit

  15. Brittany Ferries have been excellent over my sailing for my intended 2020 Corsica trip. I had paid in full, at the time it looked like it might be going the right way and the balance was taken from my card a month before the sailing date. Alas, not to be. I could have still gone but would have had to quarantine for 14 days on my return, not possible work-wise. Was offered full refund or deferral. Took the latter, a mostly pre-paid bike holiday in September 2021 was an appealing prospect. I've had good experience with Brittany Ferries in tricky circumstances on more than one occasion in the past.

Unfortunately Corsica Ferries weren't so accommodating and offered deferral but with a €60 surcharge. Not too bad a hit TBH but would rather they took a reasonable approach but they refused to engage in discussion on the subject.

Hotels on Corsica were fine when I explained that there was no way I could take 4 weeks off from work to justify a 2 week holiday. Full refund from one, the other had yet to take any money. They'll get my business when I hopefully get there this year. Told them they'd guaranteed that with their positive attitude.

  16. Still looking at bikes (for amusement and more insight) but I'm getting very confused by the Trump supporters. WTF would anyone, but a knucklehead, think that this pic adds clarity to the "bargain"? I never realised that I was searching for floor coverings...

  17. I had an e mail from the crooks at Virgin holidays.
Loyal customer for 20 years, but I would not touch them with a barge pole now.
Look up Virgin Holidays reviews on trustpilot.

  18. Do tell. What's their catch in quickly and with no fuss, refunding your holiday, for they are salt of the Earth honest, I'm sure...

  19. No replies to customers and 120days to refund if you are lucky.
