916 Fully Floating Cast Iron Disc Minimum Thickness

  1. I am after a pair of Brembos finest fully floating cast iron discs for my 916.

I have been offered a pair, but I believe they are on the minimum thickness. I have in my mind that the minimum is 4.5mm, but can't find this confirmed anywhere.

Could anyone confirm what the wear limit is?

  2. You could ask the seller to look for a figure stamped on the disc as any decent manufacturer will do this and I think it's a stipulated requirement in many countries.

  3. The only thing stamped on the carrier is 3M, I can’t believe they could go to 3mm thick

  4. I just had a quick refresh and it's a whole can of worms, see what others say. 3.5 and 4.5 mm get touted around but varied opinions on both stainless and cast iron.

  5. if they are fully floating, cast iron on minimum thickness I would be just as concerned about how much the rotors "walk around" relative to the carriers as this often goes hand-in-hand with max. thickness. wear.

  6. a bit precarious on a rusty disc, but sometimes they will stamp this information on the outer periphery of the disc.

  7. The original Brembo cast iron floaters on my 748R are stamped MIN TH 4mm. Andy
Photo is not brilliant but clear enough.

  8. I think they are originally stamped on the outer edge of the cast iron but all I can see now is rust!
