Great Movies

  1. I'll start and let's see where it goes (possibly, down the toilet), I bought a full Blu-ray of "2001 - A Space Odyssey" and although I saw it in Acton when it first came out (I would of been about 8 or 9) I understood little. 50 years later, I still understand little! Although, Kubrick is acclaimed as a ground-breaking director, there is an essential flaw in the movie (not Kubrick's fault) in that we got to the moon and then .............. nothing!

And there is now a big fanfare in that 52 years after first doing it we are going to have another bash. Making it a clear 60 year gap between doing for a first time and then for the second series!

  2. Inception is a great film, for no other reason than I recently watched it again because the Mrs had always written it off (tends to be her standard position if I like something it must be a boys film)

But yeah, really great film, even made her cry at the end.

    Tenet is also great...I think.

I say 'I think' because firstly the sound mixing on it really makes the voices hard to hear, but also it's really quite out there in regards plot and there's a lot going off that you're guaranteed to kiss first time.

    Need to watch it again

  3. Seen for the first time recently, both excellent

    1917
    Greyhound (on Apple TV)

  5. Yep all of them, haven't seen last of the mohicans for ages but remember liking it.

Greyhound was good, great in fact, good job I still had the free access to Apple tv from buying the kids new ipads because it's the only thing I've watched on it, other than that Apple tv is absolutely dire.

1917 great as well, especially how it's filmed like one continuous take

  6. I pay for Apple TV to get all of the "Long Way" series and episodes. Not disappointed with it yet.

  7. Currently on Netflix If you have that

  9. I just can't see the angle with it if I'm honest. I've got loads of Apple bits and bobs knocking around the house so it's not an anti Apple thing, but there's just no content vs Prime, Netflix or even Disney.

They've just extended my free trail, in fact everyone's free trail because covid had restricted them adding new content apparently.

    https://www.macworld.co.uk/news/free-subscription-apple-tv-july-3800582/

The Underlying problem they're having is that something like 60% of the customers are on the free trail, 30% of them aren't looking to continue with paying afterwards. 30% said they'd carry on and the rest are unsure.

That's quite tragic for an apple product

Classic! Just sit down and let it wash over you!

  19. Just to reiterate Chris Nolan's film have a "feel" that cant be replicated....dont for get the Batman films with Bale...fucking awesome...i keep a lot of high quality transfers on my Home server (watched a high bitrate 7.1channel version of Raiders of the Lost Ark last night) - lovely. I tend to like directors cuts of films....one of my go to's is Knight & Day as the ridiculous Hypermotard chase at the end is twice as long and even more stupid.
