I’ll put this, https://www.johnpye.co.uk/auctions/coming-soon-entire-contents-of-avon-motorcycles-ltd/, here, @El Toro, if it’s not the right place, happy for you to post it where it belongs. Andy
When California Superbikes went to auction a lot of people didn’t seem to have realised you have to pay 46.4% on top of the bid price. 22% auctioneers fee plus 20% VAT. Some of the prices went nuts. Apparently some people didn’t show up to collect once they’d understood what they’d actually bid. Be warned.
So many people get their pants pulled down by auctioneers .... .... buyers and sellers alike . Same goes for unfortunate people in heated divorce proceedings ..... .... the biggest winners are usually the lawyers . Oops , that came out sounding a little cynical ....
My ex-wife screwed me over - blackmailed me infact. Figured it wasnt even worth spending money on solicitors fee's to get what i was due, just glad to get rid of her
It's always like that. They will sell it for more than it's worth. Abba stands are already more expensive than those on ebay.
And to top it all once the tax man has got his money and the bank have got theirs the rest of the creditors will find that coincidentally the money that was left over from the sale of the assets and any outstanding income from the order book will match to the penny the fee from the sharks handling the bankruptcy!
The best auction lunacy I saw was a bunch of old rockers bidding for a Les Paul guitar, got so carried away it was ridiculous, I knew it was a copy as soon as I saw it, some missed a few tell tale signs. With the fees on top they could have bought two new ones.
I don't think that anyone who has been to CW Motorcycles in Dorchester will be crying over their demise. Before they lost their BMW franchise a couple of years ago, I called them to discuss a new bike. They told me that a salesman would call me back that morning, no one called. I went in there a week later to look at what I might be interested in. Took the girlfriend, also a biker, we sat on the bike that interested me, watched the only salesman talk to someone for half an hour, after which he said that he would be back and buggered off. Another half hour later we left. At the NEC that year BMW told us that CW were no longer one of their dealers.
