Wales Bank Holiday Sunday

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by CINNABULL, Jun 2, 2021.

  1. I met up with a few mates last Sunday for a long awaited Tour Of Duty to North Wales. There were 2 Street Triples, incl mine, 2 Duc V4 Streetfighters, a V4 Tuono Factory and a plethora of Multistradas out. Left Warrington around 9.45 ish and stopped at Rhug estate bike stop for a brew n burger. Then a run into Barmouth. Stopped for a cheeky Ice Cream on the front, along with a stretch and relax. It was busy as can be expected given the weather. Homeward bound via Blaneau and Betwys. If you can resist the temptation to exercise your right wrist on the A470 road between Blaneau and Betwys, then its time to give up your bike. SIMPLES. That stretch of road has quite simply been designed by the Biking Gods with one thing in mind. Quick stop at Betwys for refreshments, where we saw an amazing Arial Atom, basically a ridiculously fast street legal go kart, it was awesome. back home for 5, and a few drinks with the kids. Top weather, super bikes, brilliant tarmac and fantastic company. If there has ever been a better day, well, someone has hid it very well cos I aint never seen it !!

  3. I thought about going with that lot earlier in the week but then SWMBO planned something for Sunday afternoon so I couldn’t make it.

However we’ve got a few days planned from Sunday. But you’ll know that :p

  4. Hey Tez, long time no see, hope all is well pal. Yeah it was a great day out, the weather roads and company all top notch. Only bad thing was Col got a puncture in his Streetfighter at Barmouth. Shit happens I suppose, but he managed to limp it home which is good. TBH, this the only thing I ever seen that actually slowed him down LOL. Are you doing the Wales away thingy, is it this weekend, sure Col and a couple of the others were on about it. I can't do it after my split from the missus, house sale etc, just got some different priorities right now. Anyways if you're going, enjoy it pal and ride safe, hey, and next time we doing the Barmouth run make sure you come on it!!

  5. Glad you had a great time! I’m lucky enough to live in North Wales, in fact Snowdonia National Park. Great place for the bike especially if you know the roads well enough.

Be great to see you all back here soon and maybe have a local show you some roads that are not all that well publicised!

  6. Stu, sorry to hear about your split. Unfortunately shit happens but you’ll recover.

Yeah it’s Wales (north and south) this coming Sunday for a couple of days. We decided to do this instead of the Ireland trip as it was confusing as to what the “easing of the rules” meant from the north vs the south. Anyway Wales it is and I’m looking forward to it.

Definitely will get a Barmouth run in over the summer, but it’ll most likely be in august as June and July are pretty much booked up with us either going away or having visitors come to us.

Take care Stu and hope to see you soon :upyeah:

  10. Gav, next time we’re out I’ll give you a shout. Tbh I do N Wales pretty often as I love the roads, but I usually do pretty much the same route. Would be nice to explore new routes. Personally my preference is for nice big open A roads, big sweepers with good visibility, not much to ask is it . Not keen on them small bumpy pot holed type stuff with dirty tarmac if you get my drift.

  11. I love the little B roads and A roads in Wales, great fun on my naked not very often ride the major A roads as too busy with plod and cars for my tastes. :)

  14. We can accommodate 8

  15. Depending on what day..

  16. We've log cabins in the garden and an annex that'll sleep 10-12 as long as the cabins aren't booked, can sleep 4 in the annex and 4 in the house at a push if the cabins are booked, no charge to Ducati riders

  17. Fab! I'll remember that for next time........which could be August/September :upyeah:

    We'll pay of course :)

  18. We're moving , possibly August, but can accommodate upto 6 in the new place, moving to Fishguard, where the ferry departs to Ireland, useful if anyone planning a trip to Ireland. Drop me a pm nearer the time, if we're still here then all welcome

  19. I know the roads well, food at Rhug is hit and miss at the best of times it's gone really downhill over the last few years unfortunately, but there isn't much else other than the Ponderosa.

Barmouth is a good run though, always grab F&C when we go, you have to use the A470 around Barmouth but there's many better roads with less fuzz about, sounds like a top day though.

  20. Deffo agree re the food at Rhug. Prior to lockdown they used to do really nice sausage rolls for a quid. They changed them to a shorter fatter type and they more than doubled in price and were bloody awful. Other stuff they do is different from week to week as well.

i actually did the same run solo today and yes, I had the fish n chips from the harbour chippy. Sat on one of the benches on the harbour in the sun just chilling and chatting with other bikers. Had an ice cream to finish off before the journey home.
