Looking for solutions to fit carbon fibre protectors to the swingarm and frame on my RSV4. Looking for adhesive solutions that offer security but if I decide to remove the adhesive will be eaily removable and not damage the chrome. Any ideas please???
On the brightwork id be concerned they’d move about and bollocks it personally perhaps a way around it would be to get helitape or vinyl fitted to the frame and then stick the covers over that ?
And maybe a few number plate double sided sticky pads to create a gap and stop any grit that gets between scouring the alloy?
That is a brilliant suggestion I applied the silicone adhesive supplied with a carbon corner protector and it stuck like the proverbial. A series of small blobs on tape stuck to the frame and swing arm should provide all the adhesion to keep the protector on whilst riding but easy to peel off when you want. Andy
@Advikaz you've obviously slept on it mate I think the Helitape is a mega idea and that may the way i go. I'd also consider some form of cushion support as suggested by @Jon Wright
I did those covers nearly always have tight spots. So spacing it out will be difficult in my opinion and you’ll still get contact areas. helitape or similar would put a barrier in between then bond it on with sealant. That would be my method anyway
Erm......have you just put me back in my box Not come across it before @Sev and a quick google search on the 3M website stated for indoor use only? Temp ranges were low too? If that's what I think it is, (like a plastic velco type stuff) I've used it on aircraft too. Anything that sticks to anything that has the 3M name on will be very good, providing the surfaces are correctly prepared as Sev says ! Just checked on Google & it is the same stuff !! But I also like Advikaz's idea with the vinyl
@evoboy, could do with some advice please buddy. If you see from this thread i'm looking to fit Carbon Fibre protection to the frame and swingarm. As both are chrome i want to protect them from damage. @Advikaz has suggested a wrap and I'd like to know your opinion on this. Would there be enough adhesive strength in the wrap to stick the CF covers onto it with silicone?
