Got my hands on a Marcol Moto Reve Racing Ducati… A 748 with top yoke numbered 8….I am not sure but I think it might be the only 748 version in 20 as the rest were 996…Maybe someone can help me with this? It has not turned a wheel in 17 years so I need recommission it but that has started already. Washed it, stripped body work and tank, removed fuel pump, airbox and turned the engine over by hand. Hoping to get lots of guidance from you all as this is my first Ducati Thank you Nikolai
First thing to do is to get it to run… New belts Plugs Oil & filters Valve clearances Then assuming that all works do all the seals and perished items and make it look very pretty again. I have to say that they are so easy to work on
A lot of discussion here, https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/red-bull-replica-query.39105/ but no 748 mentioned. Welcome by the way. Andy
Yes read through that before I bought it. It is a lovely bike which ever way so just need to sort it.
I like these threads I want a bike like this to bring back to life. Trouble is, everyone wants silly money for them with the aggro involved (and cost) it’s often easier to just buy a decent one I’ve found anyway Looking forward to seeing the progress
I see their is a build part of the forum.. Will whack up some progress on there… I got this for very reasonable money from a dude I have know for 10 years.
I’ve been exactly there for a while now. Seems like everyone’s jumping on a “spares or repair” advert for just about anything nowadays. Almost bought an ER500 do’er upper over Christmas, even though I really don’t want one, just because it stayed cheap on eBay!
Agreed it's easier and cheaper just to buy a decent one anyway, project bikes nearly always don't make financial sense, however there is a lot of value, enjoyment (mainly frustration!), and finally satisfaction when you do eventually complete it.
