Finally got the single rear seat conversion done.

New rear seat unit, original seat pad and rear cushion, replacement under-tray, remade the exhaust hangers and SPO rear frame.

Now I have 3 bikes in 1, depending on how the mood takes me (can't do that with one of the SP models, with the prices they are now making).
    1. Strada with low level pipes and rear seat and pegs
    2. Full on cosmetic SP5 tribute
    3. Foggy NW200 1993 double winner (Hopefully by Spring)

  3. Nice. You’ll have a job on making the peloton bike look like a 888 mind.

  7. I've always heavily modified my bikes, but try to keep any mod's "In Period".
Anyone can bolt a 1098 etc into a 851/888 rolling chassis and claim they've the fastest 851/888, but it takes a lot more skill and effort to tune a 851/888 to make more reliable power than the factory racers.
    Hence my 851/955 build.

  9. Fabulous, you’re right about SP prices the last few years......

May I ask where you purchased the original seat and pad from, didn’t think they were still available...

  10. I got this from one of the 851/888 Facebook forums. It was from a guy in Italy who raced a SPS (SP4) and these were really battered and poorly repaired before I handed them to my friend who does my painting. I got lucky!

  11. Looking good Chris :) All those little detail touches, such as the 'oem' look exhaust hangers, add up to make a huge difference. Can't wait to see it up close. Hope Christmas has been fun - looks like a lot of it was spent in the shed... Cheers, Kev.

  14. Cheers Kev. Hope you and yours had a great time. Got to get a bit warmer and less damp and I will bring her out for a well deserved outing.

  15. Hi Chris, yes Christmas is/was good thanks. Just the three of us Christmas day for a change which was actually really nice. Spent most of the evening setting up a gaming PC for Dan - his flippin' bedroom looks like NASA mission control now! He's got more and better tech than me and it's my job... :joy: Bike still waiting on a panel and I really do need to give it some attention before the weather improves!

  16. oo lovely. so my 888 strada sat for 15 years (long story) and ducati proteam just called today and it lives! so happy. up to Mot standard then a full resto.

i also want to do a single seat conversion with high level pipes, i have a single seat subframe and fairing unit, struggling to find seat and seat pad…. any ideas?

    cheers

  17. I made some and have a couple of sets. Main seat is done like the original, rear pad is thinner but people who have bought the pads from me have said that it is good to get the thinner pad as the originals push taller people too far forward. It cost a bit to get each set done and would be looking for £350.
