V4 Err - What Is This For?

  1. First saw this in Moto3. Thought it is used to help retain heat in the wheel rim so more consistent heat gradient in the tyre. I think competition cyclists use a disc wheel for aerodynamics. If someone wants to market a cross over from racing, they need to make one of those small rear wheel trolleys they use in MotoGP. Now that would be useful. Andy

  2. Time trialists do, traditional race cyclists use deep rims. Not sure how it would affect motorcycles but disc in strong side winds aren’t pleasant.

Could be mistaken but TT riders use disc not only for their aero qualities but a little bit of inertia too. Oh yeah and they make a nice noise as you approach other riders from behind so a win in the cool stakes.

Wheel trolley, have you a picture?

  3. Only ever seen one in a MotoGP garage. A small, low frame with 4 small articulated wheels and you pull the rear wheel into it where it just sits, so the pit crew can move the rear of the bike around in a confined space. Andy
