Need Advice, Helmet Keeps Tipping Forward When Riding My Panigale

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Sicilian, Mar 18, 2022.

  1. Guys, really need some helmet advice.

Basically whenever I ride a sportbike where I'm leaned forward and tilt my head a bit further back my helmet tilts slightly forward shortening my forward vision. Once I'm on the open road with a bit of speed the wind preasure its fine. It's really starting to piss me off. Around town and roundabouts its really annoying as it tends to ip forward a bit.

Helmet is spot when riding an upright bike like my Diavel, just with sportbikes.

I've got an AGV K5S, the fit feels spot on and snug. Next size up is defo too large and size down I wouldn't even get on my head.

Is it just me or do others have this very annoying issue?

  2. Get a Shoei x-spirit 3. You can adjust how the helmet sits on your head via the cheek pads.
Or just don't ride sports bikes!!!!

  6. Thx guys, at least I'm not alone. Looks like I'll have to take another trip to Sportsbikeshop and J&S today. It's so annoying, hardly used this AGV helmet. I better start ebaying the other 4 helmets I have LOL!

  7. Is there a Helmet City near you? This is something that I'd have thought they could sort out for you with their fitting advice & adjustments...

  10. Has to be partly this if it tips noticeably? I know all manufacturers vary their “window of vision “ to achieve better strength and rigidity but you really notice this when on a low “handlebar “bike . I had the same with an HJC years ago, and just added some padding to the very top of bonce area, and it worked, obviously don’t do this if you think it impairs the performance of the helmet from a safety aspect.

  11. Thanks for the replies guys. Took a trip to Sportsbikeshop in Harlow. Very helpful guy there spent over an hour with me trying different helments. In the end went for a Shoei GT Air 2 and they replaced the top padding for me free of charge. The standard top padding was 9mm, replaced with 13mm. Seems to fit spot on, just to need to go out for a ride and see what it feels like. Annoying thing is when I bought the K5S I was also looking at the GT Air 2.

  13. Have you got a short neck or high shoulders? Is your jacket / leathers humped? If the helmet needs to work with a hump and you like AGV then a Corsa / Pista will likely be a better bet. I had the same sort of thing with a K3 SV, got a Pista and job jobbed. Still the best hat for visibility IMO, although Arai RX7v is comfier for all-day head covering.

  14. I know Motolegends have some haters but this is the most comprehensive video I've seen about helmet fitting, even if it is 38mins long!

  15. Went out for a ride yesterday on the 899 with the GT Air 2, have to say it was perfect, no more dipping down fighting with the helmet to see ahead. Combined with the Ducati Performance Comfort saddle on the 899 they just transformed riding the bike. So much more comfortable, no more slidding on the saddle and can see ahead on the road now!

  16. I wear a beanie or similar under my helmet. Works ok. In summer it’s a lightweight neck roll thingy

  17. I tried this solution, but it gave me a rough time :)
