Where do you folks feed the Optimate flying lead from the battery to the outside world? It's tight around the header tank, so thinking nearside of the tank trim?
Thx. Do you mean your lead is header tank side? I'm gonna pop the tank trims off and route it. Probably put a Li Ion battery in while I'm there.
Make sure you buy a lithium chemistry battery fitted with BMS and treat yourself to a new battery maintainer suitable for lithium chemistry. Will ensure you get the best out of your new battery. Andy
Thx for the tip Andy. I tend to change the OEM batteries on my sports bikes for Li Ion so already have the correct charger..
The dealer installed the cable for me and routed it through the cable hole on the right hand side at the front of the tank. The cable then goes through the ties with all the other cables on the right hand side so the socket is just underneath the brake leaver.
Mine has the O1 Optimate SAE fused permanent connector, which was fitted by the dealer when I bought the bike new. Its connected directly to the battery and was originally routed under the RHS fairing and protruded out next to the exposed black frame. I subsequently re-routed it out along the front RHS wiring loom and it is now fastened just under the front brake reservoir, as below.
Thanks Folks. All sorted through the little cable tunnel thingy on throttle side. Nice & neat!! Now for the caliper spacers.
I saw in the manual this was an option, but I'd rather go straight to the battery terminals. All sorted now.
The route out from the right side puts the connector under the reservoir along with the rest of the loom in that area, so looks like we have more than one option. I've no pillion seat or rear pegs, so might not be quite as neat and tidy for me.
