Security Chain Recommendations

  1. Another vote for almax if you phone him he will talk you through what you need too, very helpful and well informed.

  2. This thread is invaluable for me and a good reminder of what a Forum is for.
I'm about to update, so appreciate all the input.

The oiks are coming, not only to a town near you, but to your very street.

I haven't read up on the latest recommendation notes but I hope they include chaining rear wheel not front if choosing just one, as it's not unknown to have front wheel removed during theft attempt and we all know rear wheel harder to remove plus easier to go thru swinging arm/suspension also in a lot of cases.

  3. Depending on your model - the AntiPinch Pin - goes through the axle and prevents the nuts on the rear wheel being undone - the chain then attaches to the pin and ground anchor - via Squire SS65CS Padock

They (Pragmasis) do the normal diameter pin - in a few lengths that is fine for the single sided swing arms

The also do the smaller diameter (1mm smaller) that goes through some of the older Panigale axle and the twin spar one used on the Multistrada V2 (and probably others).

  4. Another vote for Pragmasis. I have 2 have their TORC Ground Anchors, and very hefty chains.

When specifying the security for insurance online, the Pragmasis kit is listed too, which helps getting it recognised.

  5. yes, read up on those but that's a bridge too far for me, and not possible on all axles.

  6. almax and squire lock thats the big blue padlock and Y ground anchor into concrete with rods at the bottom so they will never pull the Anchor up flush with the ground the best. Then the chain goes into the Y anchor and back up then around your wheel. Plus wheels are alarmed and any movement all goes off.

  7. Hi, will the standard 24mm diameter Pragmasis anti-pinch pin go through the Multistrada 1200 DVT rear axle OK?

  8. In the past when adding a sold secure lock and chain when filling out my insurance quote; being a bit cynical I asked the insurance company if I was expected to carry the chain and padlock with me when out for a run and parking the bike up. They said yes. As I park my bike in the garage with a lock and chain, I never declare that when insuring. Makes no difference to the premium as they only count two deterrents, eg data tag, and factory fitted immobiliser.

  9. I think mine only insist the steering lock is used when I'm out and about.Presumably they understand carrying all that stuff isn't practical.
Anyway the question was regarding use at home....

  10. I did an insurance comparison quote with and without a chain a few years ago and the difference was about £5 but if you didn’t use the chain you weren’t covered so I didn’t say I used one
