On my last two run outs the warning triangle and the cruise symbol normally green turns red. This is happening when I turn the bike on (cruise is off and will not activate) The bike runs ok . I stop and switch the bike on and off and all systems work as normal. I looked up the owners manual and on page 169 it refers to this under cruise malfunction; (switch ignition on and off) . Has anyone found that this is a regular occurrence ?
Check the front (and rear) radar screens are clear of road dirt. Check the face of the ABS sensors at the wheels aren’t covered in muck. Check the LHS switch gear cable hasn’t come loose where it joins the loom. Failing which it’s a warranty call to the dealer.
The first thing I checked was the radar sensors , which were bug free. The abs sensors and the switch cable are all good. Its going to the dealer tomorrow who will check for any registered fault codes, and take it from there. I think it may be that I am not letting the screen go through the system checks when you press the rubber button before pressing the start button. The dealer says he has not come across this before; and my post has been well read , but nobody else has said that they have had this issue. But its the only "Malfunction" on page 196 (last post I said 169) that's mentioned in the owner manual; so Ducati must know that this could happen. I will find out more tomorrow
happened twice on my V4PP in 2k miles. once done the classic "turn it off, turn it back on again" has cleared. interested to hear what your dealer says. mine happened first time before first service and they couldn't find any faults when it was serviced
There’s a couple of FB groups dedicated to the Multi V4/V4S, the issue of not letting the dash go through its start up cycle before thumbing the start button has been raised on there as it’s caused issues for a few others too. I always let the screen fully load before pressing start and always use the kill switch to turn off the engine before turning off the screen with the on/off button.
interesting. have no idea/can't remember if i started the bike on those occasions before letting the screen do its thing. will bear in mind
Glasgow Ducati had the bike today for over an hour. No faults codes found. Going to let the bike go through the start up cycle in future before pressing the start button.
It could be the ‘brains’ of the bike needs to run some checks on the various sensors around the bike before it accepts they’re all functioning as they should be; heaven knows there are numerous sensors and ECUs around the bike. By thumbing the starter button before all those checks have been done the starter takes all the power from the battery, the voltage across the rest of the circuits drops (as normally happens when any bike is started) and there’s, for a split second, insufficient power for the electronic circuits, thus they throw up an error message. Just a theory.
