Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Stevenducati01, Aug 28, 2022.

  1. Hello new here
Has anyone got advice please , I haven't riden my ducati for a while , because when I do I'm not confident as sometimes it just cuts out , and now and again the lights flicker, it's not all the time just now and again , has anyone got any suggestions please
    Thanks
    Steve

  2. Many more on here with grater knowledge, but is almost certain to be electrical.

Do you have a quick shifter on the bike? I get issues with mine when it goes out of whack.

Gear position sensor is maybe worth a look.

I’m also aware that relays can cause problems.

Not the best help but I hope you get it sorted. There’s nothing worse than going out and not knowing if you’ll need the AA to get home.

  3. My 1198S used to cut out randomly, it was the TPS setting, when you say the lights flicker do you mean the dash or the head/tail lights?...worth checking your earth connections and relay.

  6. Sounds like you need to do the Reg/Rec upgrade.

  8. Check & clean all the earth connections to the frame, etc especially at the ECU & battery.

  9. My 1198S was the ignition switch, used to cut out randomly and sometimes had to fiddle the switch to get the ignition on, changed the switch and it was cured

  10. Ok brilliant thank u , is that a common fault with the bikes
It's worth checking out thanks for your help

  11. Don't know how common it is, if at all, the 'key' indicator with mine was I had to wiggle the key occasionally to get ignition lights, it would then start and randomly cut out . It's difficult to check as the ignition lock had to be changed, certainly for mine once it was changed the random cutting out stopped.

  12. Ok thank u for all the information, much appreciated
